案内板の邦文には「内部に祭られている宮殿」とありますが、英語の説明の中には、「社殿内の神輿」となっています。 2005年に文化財としての大修理が行われ、「明治時代の建築当時の姿に復元された」。と書かれているのも「明治時代の創建当時の姿を伝えています」よりストレートな表現でわかりやすい気がします。

旧稲生(いなぶ)神社 旧稲生神社の創建時期は明らかではありませんが、江戸時代後期の絵図には現在の場所より西方に稲荷社が描かれていることから、庭園内に稲荷社が古くから祭られていたことが知られています。 現在の建物は、前身となる社殿が明治27年(1894)6月20日に東京湾を震源とする地震で倒壊したため、翌年に当時の宮内省内匠寮(たくみりょう)の手によって、同規模・同形式で再建されたものです。一方、内部に祭られている宮殿は、その建築技法から江戸時代後期のものであると推定されています。 建立から現在に至るまで、幾度か修理の手が加えられたことが、調査によって判明しています。なかでも、大正12年(1923)9月1日に発生した関東大震災では大きく破損し、倒壊は免れたようですが、昭和6年(1931)に同じく内匠寮によって大修理が行われました。そして、平成17年には文化財としての大掛かりな修理を行ない、ここに明治時代の創建当時の姿を伝えています。

The Former Inabu Shrine (Kyu-Inabu Jinja) The exact year when the Former Inabu Shrine was originally constructed is not clearly known. However, it is known that an Inari shrine did exist in the garden before the late Edo period because it was drawn at a place west of the present location in the pictorial drawing from that time. The shrine building that was the predecessor of the present building collapsed in the earthquake of 20th June 1894. In. the following year, the Imperial Household Ministry of that time reconstructed the building in the same scale and form as the one that had existed before the collapse. On the other hand, the miniature shrine inside the shrine building is presumed to be a work of the late Edo period judging from its architectural technique. The survey and research carried out clarified that several repairs had been conducted on this building since its original- construction. The Imperial Household Ministry conducted a major repair in 1931' because the building had suffered gréat damage though it did not collapse in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1st September 1923.
