The worst duty-free store in the world. I went there to purchase Yamazaki Smoky Batch and Hakushu Bittersweet, but the employee demanded that I spend an additional 50,000 yen just to get a chance to purchase any Suntory whiskey. I asked if this was an official policy applied to all customers, and the answer was yes. However, she added that she could lower the requirement to 30,000 yen if I felt 50,000 yen was too much.
I’ve never experienced such absurd behavior at a duty-free store—especially one located in central Ginza.
If this additional purchase requirement for Suntory whiskeys is an official policy, the Japanese government should investigate any potential wrongdoing, as it constitutes unfair bundling practices that harm consumers. If this was simply the inappropriate conduct of an employee, Lotte Duty Free should take immediate action to properly train and supervise their staff to prevent such incidents from happening again.
I ended up going to the Mitsukoshi duty-free store, just a 5-minute walk from Lotte, and purchased the same items without any extra purchase...

We made a purchase at the Lotte Duty Free store in Ginza, but the staff never mentioned that the product would have to be picked up at the airport and not on the spot. When we realized this and asked for a refund, the seller refused and told us to contact Lotte directly for a refund.
We did contact Lotte by email, but they never replied. We had to leave Japan earlier than planned and never received the product. So now, Lotte has kept our money without delivering anything, this feels like a scam.
We are now raising this case with the Japanese consumer protection...
