(Review from a female foreigner live in Japan) It’s a kind of 'my first purchase experience of high-end fashion brand shop in Shinjuku' and I think it's not that good experience though....
It started from I want to reward myself with something, and I've always want a product from Louis Vuitton since I was in high-school, I looked up all of their products and have love at first sight in monogram key pouch and it's kind-of affordable price for me.
I even searched on Google that which branches has the best service, and turns out ALL branches always has someone gave a 1 star rating, so I finally give it a chance in Shinjuku branch at Isetan Shinjuku
There were lots of customers in a shop but there was no queue, I walked in and a doorman gave a friendly smiled at me. and then there was a middle-aged man staff came to greet me. I showed him a key pouch picture and ask is there any in stock? (I decided to speak English instead of Japanese to not caused any misunderstanding, but I regretted later I guess)
He picked a product in stock for me to check if it had any defects, asked if I bring any passport with me to do tax refund. I told him ‘I live here so he should know I can't do tax refund’ because I'm not a tourist, but he seemed confused, like he couldn't understand what I say, and I don't know 'tax refund' in Japanese word so I just told no passport
He asked what kind of payment I would made, (Credit card) and he brought a credit payment machine to made a transaction, asked me to filled in name and mobile phone number, wrapped a product and brought me outside of shop in no time. and I stood outside of a shop in confused, like 'wait is that over? It was a less than 10 minutes purchase' Because all of process is super fast, in a hurry like I'm in a fast food shop or something.
This is my first time in luxury brand shop so I didn't know any process, and I might expect too much, but from lots of reviews I thought they would do a better customer service than that, like describe a detail in a pouch I purchased, asked me is anything else I interested? Or offered me a chair to relax or a bottle of water. I even thought if I spoke Japanese at the first place, will he treat me better than this? Is it because I look like foreigner tourist or my appearance looks childish and no wealthy or sophisticated look? (Just a coat, trousers,a cap and sneakers)
Maybe I didn't make a big purchase so he didn't pay that much attention to me, so I kind of disappointed to spent so much money and what I received was... let's say convenience store like Seven or Lawson in Japan can do a better...
Read moreMy experience at this branch was deeply disappointing and left me feeling disrespected as a customer. The staff provided minimal information, only explaining details when explicitly asked, which felt dismissive and condescending. Throughout the interaction, I sensed an attitude that implied I wasn’t valued as a customer.
The payment process was particularly frustrating. Instead of politely inquiring about my preferred payment method, the staff member extended their hand, demanding my card with no words—just eye contact. This made the transaction feel rushed and uncomfortable, almost as if I was being pressured to pay quickly.
After completing the purchase, the staff haphazardly placed my item on the counter without any explanation, receipt details, or even a simple thank you. The lack of professionalism and courtesy made the entire experience feel cheap and dehumanizing.
I strongly advise against visiting this branch. For a far more welcoming and professional experience, consider the Shibuya or Ginza branches instead. Their staff are attentive, respectful, and make you feel valued...
Read moreI bought a long clip at the Shinjuku store the other day. The female salesperson with shoulder-length brown hair is an intern with a very bad attitude. She always asks me to fill in the information quickly. I have never encountered a salesperson who would rush customers away when buying in Taiwan. I was thinking of buying another mini backpack but her attitude made me just want to leave the store. It's time to educate the intern salesperson, how could she rush the customers and I don't want to go upstairs to look at the clothes, so her attitude becomes very bad. I hope you don't encounter the same thing when you go shopping in...
