As a very satisfied client, I highly recommend the services of Robert Half (RH). Let me describe the reasons why.
During a recent job opportunities pursuit, I worked closely with Lyndsey, Greg, Taka and Oskar from RH. I’m pretty happy about the professional relationship we developed over the course of the job search.
What differentiates RH and sets them apart from other recruiters in Japan? From my experience with them, here are some of the major reasons:
Client-centricity and customization. During my first meeting with Lyndsey, he took more than sufficient time from his busy schedule to understand better my background and experience, career aspirations, must-haves vs. nice-to-haves in a job, positions / companies I would consider vs. ones I will definitely pass on, etc. This conversation provided him with much needed information to screen the opportunities before introducing only relevant ones to me. Sometimes we would even have conversations like this. Me: "I came across opportunity X from company Y. What do you think?" Him: "I don’t think Y’s culture would be a good fit for you, so I’d recommend not pursuing X. But if you’d really like to give it a try, I could introduce your profile to them…" This kind of customer-centricity and personalization is very important to me, as I don’t have time to waste on irrelevant roles. Contrast this with other typical recruiters, who have looked up a couple of keywords on my LinkedIn profile, and contacted me pushing irrelevant positions. I get these kind of messages almost every day and don’t even bother replying…
Pre-interview insights. Before I go into an interview, I would like to know a bit more about the person who would be interviewing me. E.g., their role and department, their name (if available), etc. This helps me customize the conversation I will have during the interview (e.g., should I highlight my technical skills or my C-level engagement experience?), and even look up the LinkedIn profile of the interviewer, if I have the name. The folks at RH have a very good rapport with their hiring clients, because of which they were almost always able to give me sufficient pre-interview information. This proved to be extremely valuable during my interviews.
Post-interview feedback. Again, due to their excellent relationship with the hiring companies, my RH recruiters were always in a position to get constructive feedback shortly after each interview. E.g., what were the points that made a good impression on my interviewers, or the ones that did not come across very well? This kind of post-interview insights were extremely important for the next rounds of my interview processes, as they helped me navigate the conversation better and emphasize more on important experiences that I did not cover sufficiently in the previous rounds.
Negotiations process. Before an offer is made, both the prospective employer and the prospective employee must be reasonably certain that the role would be a good long-term fit for both sides. Is the candidate happy with the roles and responsibilities of the position? What are the special requirements that the candidate will not compromise on vs. others that are negotiable? In the final stage, before getting an offer, my RH partners were my agents. They worked hard, conveying my thoughts and negotiating my requirements with the hiring company, trying to get the best possible offer they could on my behalf.
In conclusion, I recommend the recruiting services of RH for the above reasons. At the end of my search, I was able to obtain 3 job offers (one of which was "an almost certain verbal offer"), for which I give a huge credit to my RH consultants. Out of the 3, I accepted the offer I believe to be the best long-term fit for me and for the hiring company. I know that I will work with RH again in the future, when I need help hiring exceptional talent in my new role. You should be working...

Read moreI have got helped by A B and Lin from Robert Half Japan. I am writing this review to express my thankful feelings for them.
From the first regular meeting with them, I felt that I would get a great opportunity in my career in Japan.
They suggested to me a more proper job position that I can perform my best based on my experience and potential. They helped me sincerely and friendly during the whole of my next career stepping process.
I remember that A B was sitting next to me during the first interview with my current company. Even though I am not a native Japanese speaker and get nervous easily, I was able to express all that I prepared for the interview because my friend was next to me.
Also, I needed to get a work visa in Japan and my situation was quite urgent in every aspect. They have already lots of experiences about visa work so they helped and prepared all the documents in time for me and I could get the visa without any issue.
I have been working for 2 months so far and I am very satisfied with my new work, company culture, atmosphere, and colleagues as well. To sum up, Lin and A B are: Analyze candidates' experience and potential precisely and recommend the best positions for them. Take quick actions every time to take chances for their clients Develop good and sincere 'Agent and Client' business partnerships (which means they can get better chances for their candidates) Have become good friends at the same time
Sorry for the late review. I wanted to write it after I experience the one recruitment process...
