SHISEIDO SALON & SPA — Local services in Tokyo

I visited the salon on Monday, 30th June, and requested a straight perm service. I chose Shiseido Ginza with high expectations, trusting the salon’s reputation and the Shiseido brand, which is globally known for quality and excellence—especially in hair care. While the staff were courteous and the service experience was smooth, I’m genuinely disappointed with the results. After the procedure, my hair felt stiff and dry, and I noticed significant breakage. I followed the post-treatment instructions and did not wash my hair until Wednesday, as I was told I could wash it after 24 hours. I also applied a hair mask in an effort to ease the dryness and stiffness, but unfortunately, the damage seems quite serious.

I am sharing this feedback because I had trusted the expertise of a Japanese salon, especially one associated with Shiseido, and I feel incredibly let down by the outcome. I would appreciate advice or support on how to recover from this damage, and I sincerely hope steps can be taken to prevent similar experiences for other customers.

My mom and I had the most incredible experience and service at this salon. We visited for the first time back in April 2023 and went to at least 6 or 7 different salons before this that said they were unable to do our hair because we are “tourists”. This salon was the last one we tried and we were leaving Tokyo the next they, they were so accommodating and scheduled us in for the next morning before our bullet train. My mom did a root color and a short hair spa massage and she couldn’t have been happier! The color stayed for almost a month after we got back home and they put the most incredible treatment in her hair that left it silky smooth up until now! All the staff were so friendly and even offered us tea, entertainment on their iPads and chargers for our phones. I think the 2 women who helped us were named S.masaki and Matsuura. We cannot wait to come back and would recommend this salon to absolutely everyone...

This review is overdue by one year but I have to give this place a shout out. I walked in without reservation last summer and they took me in right away. Since I just came from the airport and had my hand-carry with me (yep speaking of priorities), they were very helpful with putting away the bag securely for me. Ikue-san took me to her station promptly. She was very excited to learn that I'm from Ohio, where she used to live, so she spoke good English. We went thru what I was looking for and then she shampooed my hair. The shampoo process felt heavenly and I can only imagine if I had done the head spa (I'll come back for that next time!) She understood the requirements; I want a bob head that's easy to manage and she did just that. It looks cute effortlessly. She did a phenomenal job. I will be back the next time I visit...
