Had a reservation, went early. The restaurant didn't really fill up when we left. Did notice a couple of locals, business people show up. One other tourist group. My suggestion: go for it. (I kind of felt that the other tourist couple was timid, maybe because of the pricing? At $70 for a plate of roughly 5 cuts x 4 pieces ). Though not all was available on the menu (the big multi cut one was not available.) We ended up ordering two of the smaller cuts, two wagyu soups for my brothers, ox tail soup for our mom, and then a sirloin wagyu (just to cut the fat).
Family made me cook (yes, choose the best cook in your group to do this). Meats took a few seconds each side. The meat plate came with some banchan (some pickles and leafy greens).
For the price of what we ate and drank (and I did drink a lot - love japanese highballs), you can't get that in the US. Meat was great.
I had made a reservation while in the US. Yes, locked in a fee on my card. But when we went up to pay, I mentioned it and they took off the hold fee. Eldest brother paid(!).
We didn't really have a purpose to be in Ginza, but walking through to get to the restaurant was cool enough. Went to a department store nearby beforehand to look at the...
Read moreWell luck has it we had our last dinner in Japan on the same block where we had our first dinner 3 weeks ago. And similar to that experience, while acceptable, it is not a standout in the many memorable dinings we had on this remarkable trip. Beef is good, but being labeled as A5 wyagu it already is a step down to the real picky Japanese customers (who would identify wyagu by origin, i.e. kobe, omi, matsusaka, yonezawa, kumano, saga, etc, as well as cuts). So it is clearly tailored to mass visitors who are less in the knows.
We simply didn't want to wonder in Ginza forever (having just returned from Fujiyama day trip) and overpay for subpar meal in an unproven outfit, so we just settled with this place, which was full of foreign visitors likely Ginza shoppers. The staff were friendly but the whole experience seems rushed and less authentically local. Call me picky after 3 weeks but we simply had better.
Beef was still good (hard to criticize any wyagu beef), somewhat pricy given its location but not gauging. Beef and tendem rice bowl surprisingly good. Overall acceptable and recommended for those are not doing in depth food tours, and still better than our first dinner in...
Read moreI feel like I have to leave a comment about this place. We visited some days before New Year’s, and the experience was disappointing. Some staff were friendly and greeted us, but others gave us a very strange vibe. From the moment we entered, a couple of female staff kept staring at us every time they passed by, which made us feel really uncomfortable. Y'all just wanted to enjoy the meal, dressed fine and decent just expected to have nice dinner experience in Tokyo. Unfortunately, their behavior gave us a very unpleasant impression of the restaurant.
(It's very hard to tell why we were treated like this, we look completely normal. Didn't have similar problem with other restaurants in Tokyo.)
PS: The quality of the meat was good👍, which is the only reason I might still recommend this place—if you want to take a chance. We saw this restaurant recommended on YouTube, but our experience was completely different from what was shown in the video. Maybe it’s because they were short-staffed before the holidays, but overall, it left a...
