I was wandering around Shibuya, eyeing up Christmas gifts for my brother when I saw Dragon Ball Z figurines in the window of Soontang Hobby.

My brother and I grew up obsessed with DBZ. He always identified more with Goku, as Goku is the humble protagonist in the arc. My bro is just a solid dude, no ego. He just wins.

I always felt more connected to Vegeta, as he always believes in himself even if he really doesn’t win any major fights. I typically lack self confidence in life, so I always looked up to Vegeta. His self belief never wavers, even in the face of constant defeat… like where does his irrational confidence come from?! It’s so inspirational. I need some of that.

Needless to say, I got my bro a Super Saiyan Son Goku figurine that you have to build yourself as he was always a huge lego guy growing up. I also got him a Super Saiyan Vegeta pre-built action figure, to sort of represent me and our relationship. I think it’s a good gift. I love my brother, man.

A new hobby store in the hip location of Omotesando. It's a great place to check out figurines in a nicely designed interior space. However, this isn't really a hobby shop for anybody's who's looking for anything hardcore, which you would be better suited shopping in hobby shops...

A hidden gem in the area with great selection! I found some merch that wasn’t available in the more popular chains or the parent company store which was exciting. The staff was helpful...
