Kura Sushi Harajuku is the third of the Kurasushi Global Flagship Store. The conveyor belt sushi restaurant interior design concept is based on sushi x sweets. The interior design is primarily a light-coloured Japanese wood theme mixed with modern design. People can enjoy their sushi meal in a soothing and comfortable dining atmosphere. We were impressed by the cleanliness and quaintly refreshing design as soon as we entered the restaurant. It was so easy to get a table number: just scanned the QR code I got for my booking at the machine near the entrance. A ticket with our table number was printed out from the machine. Just as simple as this.
All the condiments were put on the table and chopsticks and wet tissues were neatly placed in a slot underneath the table top. (A design for releasing more space on table for sushi plates and drinks). Food orders and checkout were all done through the tablet, and sushi were delivered swiftly to our table via the conveyor belt. We could also take any sushi from the conveyor belt as well. We preferred to order from the tablet cause the sushi will be made to order. After we checked out through the tablet, we just went to the change machine near the entrance to pay our bill either in cash or by credit card. An easy no fuss 123 step. A big salute to modern technology, however we prefer the waitress service, more personal interaction. One crazy thought though: will there be any dine and dash happened in Kura Sushi?
There were over 30 sushi dishes and 20 desserts for us to choose from. The sushi quality is fresh and tasty. We could play a game on the tablet every time after 5 dishes were put in the dish collection slot. Well we only won a small key ring even though we played a total of 6/7 games. Too sad!
A new item : sushi or ice cream and fruit served in freshly made rainbow colored crepe (280 yen) are introduced and available only at Harajuku branch. Unfortunately we forgot to order it cause we were too busy ordering our favorite sushi dishes. Next time then.

When arrive at place at time of reservation, you will still go to the main screen to input your reservation code (to let them know you are not cancelling) and wait until they call you. No need to arrive exact on time, but keep in mind others will still be served before you especially if you arrive early.
Food is a classic fast food sushi. Don’t expect mind blowing quality, but it’s still better than convenience store. Some of the translations for the fish are interesting, so googling the terms can be faster. Saw a review that said the salmon was not good, but it looks like it actually might be a different seafood, rather than salmon. As the orders are given by the tracks and not human, it may be difficult to make sure what the order was, but can always ask staff and they can try explaining. At a different place, the fish was still very cold, so things like this may happen. Can always call staff over to replace, it’s their policy so no worries.
Less Japanese staff, so some do speak English.
Relatively kid friendly menus: salmon, rolls, crepes, desserts (haha), “special sushi” like cooked meat, egg sushi, types of clams, fried foods, ramen, streamed savory egg
Some interesting textures: squid (slimy), natto (sticky fermented beans), uni (sea urchin)
DIY green tea at table is very nice, but be careful with children. Water stations are available.
There is also an outside patio to sit and look over Harajyuku.
(my personal recommendation for kaiten sushi places is actually the fries!!!! These are in a different batter than usual fries, and their frying oils tend to be cleaner than other fast food...
