An amazing Vietnamese restaurant in Takapuna✨
If you're craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Auckland, this hidden gem in Takapuna is a must-visit. Nestled at the base of an apartment building on Huron Street, this cozy restaurant offers a true taste of Vietnam right in the heart of the North Shore. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles from the Vietnamese owners, who are not only friendly but also genuinely passionate about sharing their culture through food.
As a Vietnamese person myself, I was thoroughly impressed by the flavors, they’re incredibly close to what you'd find back home. The dishes are made with care, fresh ingredients, and a deep respect for traditional recipes. I highly recommend trying the Bún Chả, a classic Hanoi dish featuring grilled pork, vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, and a flavorful dipping sauce. It’s my personal favorite and a great representation of northern Vietnamese cuisine.
Whether you're Vietnamese and missing a taste of home, or just someone eager to explore new flavors, this spot won't disappoint. The ambiance is simple but welcoming, and the prices are reasonable for the quality. Don't overlook this small but mighty restaurant, it's one of the best Vietnamese dining experiences...
Read moreSunday 12.30pm, father's day. Overall a good experience. Negatives: Small portions. No herbs. If there had been any type of herb on there and the carb part of the portion were 30% more, I would've given a 5 star review. We had: lemongrass chicken on rice, bun cha, bahn mi, pho +quay, summer rolls, spring rolls. The overall flavour was good, the bun cha being the stand out dish, but way too little noodles. Bahn mi was good, but baguette was not quite crisp enough and the sandwich was lacking some acidity (and herbs!), pho also nice but we didn't get any hoisin sauce to season with, again lacking herbs, and the quay were a bit greasy -probably cooked in slightly too cold oil. Not much lemongrass flavour to the chicken, but otherwise tasty. Atmosphere was good, and service was relaxed, if a bit slow. The major down point was the small carb (rice/noodle) servings. We had to go and eat more elsewhere afterwards (2...
Read moreAfter seeing "Eat Now Takapuna's" commercial "like" Instagram page on what is portrayed as "classy" Vietnamese street food, our family and I decided to check this place out! But soon we were hit with the reality that this restaurant is very mediocre. The glasses that we collected from the counter were all very cloudy and dirty. You could still see the lip-stick stains of a previous customer. Couldn't find a single clean glass. The Vietnamese spring rolls and vermicelli were awful! The spring rolls alone were burnt and extremely dry, and for a second the thought came across my mind that that was from old stock... The salad was not fresh at all. The iced coffee that I also ordered was 3/4 of a cup filled with ice. Very disappointed. Can't understand the huge rave considering the fairly high star review rating... Will never...
