I'd had this place on my 'dining bucket list' for a while now and I was so happy to finally get the chance to go there last night. We had a 5.30pm booking. The venue was at a lovely level of patronage when we arrived. A table for two. Our service was impeccable all night. We had a young lad look after us towards the end and he was incredible. Our food was made and delivered to us with what I thought was exceptional spend. I had the eggplant chips (not in the photo) and they were heavenly! My main was the crispy tofu (pictured). The tofu wasn't crispy and by the time I got to eating it, it was actually quite soggy which was a bit disappointing. But dish flavors were a party for my palette. The menu had good identification around dietary restrictions. Plenty of vegetarian options too. As we ended our meal, around 7ish, the noise level was really high and it was hard to have a conversation. I really struggled with this and left earlier than I'd have liked as a result. Take aways for me - exceptional service, great food but for me, probably better enjoyed at a quieter time.

We came here during Friday lunchtime and there were quite a few tables available. The interior was lovely and the tables set up on the ceiling as installations were quite cool. We ordered the crispy Hapuka curry which was flavourful and delicious. The kingfish sashimi was also very nice and the shaking beef was a large serving and very tender with Kai lan that was cooked perfectly with the right amount of crispiness. We really enjoyed the sweet and sour pork as well. It was more sour than sweet which cut the richness of the pork belly and was served in large cubes. If we were to come back it would be for the food alone as sadly, the service made it a less enjoyable experience. Depending on who the server was, they were either uninterested or just plain rude.

Cheek and Chong restaurant is just a class act others should aspire to be like. The service, just second to none and always polite and happy to help at a moments notice For the location on a main road, it was not problem with indoor and outdoor seating to suit. The food looked, tasted and presented to a extremely high standard that very few restaurants achieve. It is all of the little details that make the whole experience more enjoyable. Like freshly squeezed orange juice. Some might find the prices a little high. But you are paying for a whole experience that can not be faulted. I personally would rather spend the time traveling here and paying more, than visit a local restaurant

The food not very good considering the price. We ordered 2 dishes: Crispy Hapuka fish dry curry and Papaya Salad. The fish not even crispy as the title and no taste. I wasn't very sure if the chef forgot to sprinkle salt on the fish or it meant to be the fish itself no taste. The papaya salad looks very nice but the taste still not as good as papaya salad at Tom Yam restaurant. Now about the service. It was very bad. It wasn't too busy when we arrived. Once seated the staff gave us a menu and after we were ready to order, we have to wait for a while until we were attended even tough we have waived to every staff we could see passing around. We did not ordered any drink we just asked for a water for our drink. While we waited for the food to come out we saw few guests came in and occupy about 3 tables. I noticed once they were seated the staff gave them a menu along with a water to all of those 3 tables. We have been there longer than them and we still waiting for our water until we managed to get attention from the staff and asked for our drink and still got the reply wait I'll be backed. After waited for a while the staff backed with the water. My question is why there were different service for different guest? Is it because we were asian? And the guest came after us were Caucasians? Well hope it was not. But definitely I will not come back to the place like this even tough if their food was very nice. Never ever come back. Hope the management can look into this matters...

City prices for 80% quality of city food. Raw chicken wing starter, although the rest of the starters were pretty good. Prawns were amazing, fritters average, tacos interesting and squid was great.

Felt like i was being done a favour that they removed the raw chicken off the bill. Just the way she sid it. In the good old days restauranteurs would do somthing more than that...perhaps come say sorry personally, or give a shot of liqueur or make some gesture. I realise that mistakes can be made and will not be hyper-critical, but i felt the apology was a bit light and only involved the waitress serving us.

Service was good until the main course started coming out, then the wheels of the bus came off. Firstly I had to wait about 5 minutes for my rice to arrive that was served with my lamb curry, which was reall good as a side note. No one thought to bring out fresh bowls or chopsticks for thr mains after the ones used for our starters were used.

To add to the irritation, i was half way through my main course by the time the last dish came out. When you are not sharing mains this is a problem.

Overall it was an average experience with above average food. Cant say that i will be itiching to go back, which...

Disappointing experience – not child-friendly as promised. I called ahead specifically to ask if this restaurant was child-friendly, as we were dining with our toddler and baby for my husband’s birthday. I was assured they could customise meals to suit young children, which was a big reason I chose this place.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case at all. The waiter recommended dishes for our 2-year-old and promised they wouldn’t be spicy, but all the dishes we were served were spicy—completely unsuitable for a child. After waiting a while for the food, our daughter was upset and couldn’t eat anything, which made the whole experience stressful rather than enjoyable.

To make matters worse, there was no change table in the bathrooms. So no, this place is not child-friendly—despite what they told us.

We spent $150 and left feeling disappointed. All the food was average. Honestly, I wish they had just been upfront about their limitations with accommodating kids. It would’ve saved us a lot of hassle and money. We won’t be returning, even without kids—the food and overall experience just...
