After a long day of sightseeing, my family and myself was looking for a nice restaurant to have dinner. We came across the Grand Harbour. While we were seated promptly, the customer service was down the drain from the start. We ask for some tea and ice water while we look over the menu. He responded "that can wait, what do you want to eat?" Sure enough he was probably just having a bad day, as my family discussed. We order several dishes, which included fried rice, hot and sour soup and other dinner items which is the norm for a regular Chinese family. They brought out four trays of siu mai and claim we ordered it. We asked them why would we want siu mai at night, and if we ordered it why would dont want it now? The waitress called over the waiter that took our order. He came over and claimed we order it and that he didn't make a mistake. After refusing to take the four trays of siu mai, he called over I'm assuming the on shift manager. She stated that she spoke to the waiter, and we must have forgotten that we ordered it. We stated back to her that we never ordered the siu mai. Without apologizing she made of remarks of "I guess I'll have to take it home." Soon after many of our dishes started to come out, we asked one of the waitress We order several bowls of Steam rice. She stated that she didn't know and will have the waiter that took our order come out. The waiter again came out and accuse us of not ordering the steam rice. We just said fine. We finished our food and went up to pay, where the shift manager was standing with another employee. In Cantonese, the shift manager said "these Americans are so picky, we should charge them for the siu mai that they ordered. This time, I was not going to keep quiet. I said back in Cantonese: "so this is how you make your money? By putting items on people tabs and then charging them, while you take the food home? Manager stated that i heard it wrong, and kept apologizing for offending my family and myself. Think twice if you want to eat here. Im an Asian American and came here on vacation, but this restaurant feeling like they can rip of...

Lunch on a weekend, why not a popular yumcha house - Grand Harbour. As Ive heared stories of good quality tasting yumcha.
Asked for water more than 5x before someone care to serve, should they just place a tap accesible to everyone instead of making their guests wait?
As we sitted, just like any other yum cha house where you are expected to eat some good siomai, we went into the condiments to get some chili sauce. A minute later, a manager (i just assumed shes a manager) came to our table in a classic poker face, telling us that we should finish off all the chili sauce and soy sauce we got, otherwise they will charge us if they see leftovers. - I dont mind it coz I know i can finish off whatever we got, but until that notice isnt placed in the condiments section - this is just money making and an avenue for being rude - and the manner of delivering the message was so unpleasant that never got an ounce of empathy. - staff training perhaps?
Food was overpriced, considering their very bad service and unhappy staff - you’ll be unhappy paying 40bux per person for this kind of unhappy place
Food quality was average, comparing to a nice yumcha house in Brisbane CBD, Grand Harbour has lot of work to do to improve taste and overall guest experience
If not for the tasty siomai and crablets, wont even get a star from me. I walk out unhappy not for the food, but for having serviced by unhappy staff in an unhappy place
Will I be coming back...
Read moreI would never give a 1 star, ever. I, with my husband and 2 children have been coming here for the last 10 years, longer if you count the times pre children. We have loved it, but the price went up significantly, that’s ok, times have changed, but when the quality goes down you wonder the price. Today’s experience was awful, the woman (manager?) was so rude, argumentative, so unprofessional.. she told me off when trying to get more soy and chilli for a table of 7, yea one little measly dish isn’t going to cut it lady, we are suddenly paying fine dining prices now.. talked down to me basically accusing me of a crime, then when it came to bill payment i told her that we had 3x dishes that were stone cold.. again I was yelled at, she told me that I should have gone to the manager? I assume that was her and I told the wait staff but that was wrong, so without knowing what should one do? She was rude, and now our fav dumpling place is ruined for us. We are done. After paying nearly 300 dollars for a sub par experience I’m sad to say, see ya later grand harbour. We’ve loved the last 15 yrs or so, but we will not be back after that...
