Lawn Café — Restaurant in Waitematā

Have been coming here for coffee and the occasional brunch/lunch for the past year now! Always love the cheery service and wonderful food (would recommend most things on the menu, but esp the fresh basked scones, Turkish eggs and broccoli stack!).

The coffee has always been consistent (never burnt or under/over extracted), and the coffee cards are generous with the option of free coffee or room bookings in the shared office spaces.

One minor annoying thing is that during busy times (e.g. lunch), it can be hard to get a table to actually eat plated food, because sometimes people work from the cafe with just a coffee, which means needing to get take away cabinet...

We ordered 3 dishes - Cuban eggs Benedict, Turkish eggs and zucchini fritter. All of them were consistently salty and way too heavy flavoured. We couldn’t finish the whole dish (even tho we were hungry) bcos they were way too salty. The service was not the best. We ordered at the counter and the waitress did not even raise her eyebrows while we waited. After a long time, she finally finished her cups on her hand, she asked us what we wanted and took our order in an impatient manner. Later on even served us the wrong coffee. Not the best experience....

It is a great spot with a nice atmosphere. It feels discreet but alive and buzzing, and there's always a warm welcome from the team, Enya, Beth, and Rei. I always look forward to my day when it starts here. And then there's Pablo and his team (Pablo makes the best poached eggs, and his scones are outstanding. It's hard to resist any of his food).
