An awesome 4d3n Manu Tour with Alex in May 2024! We are a small cosy group of 6.
It's a small local and rather informal company, but glad that we went through with that and met Alex as our guide.
Strongly recommend Alex, who grew up in the jungle, and he's really knowledgeable, chill, down to earth and fun to know. It's really cool to see a local guide in his element; mimicking the sounds of the birds, spotting the wildlife, and helping us take the photos with our phones through his spotting scope 👍.
Alex was sharing with us that the cooks and guides are freelancers, and the tourism levels are still quite low since Covid-19. So glad that we are helping the local economy in our own small ways.
Notes We didn't get much signal and reception during the tour, so FYI Be prepared for some cold showers! We also didnt get much mosquitoes as it rained during our 1st day (which killed...
Read moreI have been on a 6D/5N tour to Manu. A lot of time was lost to transportation to and from the reserved zone (around 4 days in total) where you'll hardly see an animal and if you see one, it's around 50 meters away. Our guide was a joke. He drank a lot of alcohol, one time during the day while he was working. He fell asleep on the boat during the day, he played with animals, fed one spider to another and pretended to throw a snake at me. He hardly shared background information about animals or their behavior and we never stopped for more than a minute to observe an animal or waited somewhere for animals to show up. He ignored the park rules and acted like a child. I gave the tour 3 stars because everything else was quite well arranged. However, the guide has a significant impact on the total experience. For the amount of money I paid, this was not...
Read moreReally nice staff throughout the booking process and tour. We were actually then booked onto Vilca Expediciones Manu tour which was excellent. The guide was really knowledgeable, we saw lots of animals. The food was actually excellent which is rare for these kind of tours. Also, added bonus being that it was much cheaper than other Amazon tours offered, despite all tours taking you to the same places (the clay lick to see macaws for example). No one else booked onto the tour the same day as we did so we pretty much had a private tour. I’d recommend taking small change with you, we didn’t take much money at all and found we wanted to tip various people along the way...
