Walls Are Transparent to Sound Definitely not for those planning to sleep during their stay. Walls, ceiling, floor or doors are completely transparent to sound. At night absolutely anything could be heard. And as many tours leave very early (as early as 4:00am), you will hear EVERY-SINGLE-GUEST leaving the hotel (trust me on this), be it slamming doors, luggage rolling over cobblestones, voices, or simple steps. Breakfast starts early too (4:30) and the sound coming from the restaurant will rebound around the patio so much you can hear spoons tinklering in teacups all morning, from 4:30am until you finally wake (or give) up. I complained at the reception and got another room (that although spacious was not nearly as nice). Wood flooring was loose and on our every step we pitied those staying under us, but the next two nights were OK. The third however wasn't: now that the room next to us was finally occupied we were greeted with the orchestral sound of plumbing (and apparently people really love to shower post 00:00). Sleeping is (obviously) the whole point of staying at a hotel, so it does drop the score a lot. But it wasn't only that. There was breakfast too. Options are the usual stuff, not great nor terrible. Except for drinking. Instead of going with the usual orange juice and iced water, the hotel decided to be "innovative": every morning a set of equally horrible juices (I mean it), like papaya+pineapple, all thick and tasteless. And you couldn't resolve to plain water, as there wasn't. Your only choice besides those juices would be a flavored water infused with countless leaves and peels that tasted like really bad medicine. Facing such dreadful alternatives, I asked for a glass of plain water, for which the waiter wanted to charge me -- which is even more ludicrous as the hotel gives free bottles at the rooms. I had no choice but to go back at the room to pick one. On the upside, the hotel has great location near Regocijo square and a beautiful layout with a cozy inner patio, great for reading time. Beds are very comfy and...
Read moreThere is some issue with hotel management. I booked two nights of the suite for a family of four. It should be a nice-sized room with a king size bed and two double beds in the separate areas based on the posted pictures on the hotel website. When I checked into the hotel, the hotel staff assigned a room with four double beds crumbled into a room that suppose to max three double beds. The two headboards are not even matched the three beds because that spaces suppose for two beds only. The space is so limited, that only one nightstand can be fitted next to the bed. I have to climb to the bed from the end of the bed because the it is next to the wall. I mention this issue when I saw the room for the first time when we checked in. However, the staff just simply said, it can fit our family of four, and pictures on their website might not match the room the customer actually gets. It is just a normal thing for them. At that moment, I just got to Cusco and was having a very bad headache due to altitude sickness. I don't want to argue and just want to lie down.
When I felt better later on, I can think straight about this room issue. I did book a suite, not this room. I even paid double the price of regular rooms for a better one. The features of the suite suppose to have a separate jet tub, bath robes, and many other things. They are not in this room I got. So, I went to the front desk the next morning to let them know about this problem. This time, the staff recognized they have made a mistake in that they assigned me to the wrong room! I had to repack everything and moved to a real suite. The new room looked exactly like the website's pictures and have all the features too. In the end, they didn't explain to me why they made this mistake in the first place. They didn't do anything to make up for their mistake too. It may just be a normal MISTAKE for them.
However, I didn't give it one star because the hotel itself is nice and...
Read moreI had many disappointing experiences with this hotel. Firstly- we were three guests and they knew this upon check in. When we got in our room late at night, we only had two towels. No big deal- we called and got one more. However for the rest of the three day stay everyday they just brought two towels. The last day we called again for a third towel- they never even brought it after saying they would.
I would also not recommend this location to anyone with food allergies/restrictions. We ordered room service on our first night, we got in so late after a full day in machu pichu. I ordered Alfredo with grilled chicken- nowhere on the menu did it say this came with ham. When the pasta showed up and my sister saw ham on it; she sent it back, apologized extensively and said we cannot eat ham. The pasta came back minutes later. I began to eat it and it wasn’t very good but I was so hungry. I moved the pasta over to see HAM on the bottom of the plate!! They literally removed ham from the top and sent the SAME EXACT PLATE BACK. They could not be trusted with food restrictions and allergies. They did remove this from the bill as I brought the plate back very upset.
Then, breakfast on our second day should have been ready at 4:30am as specified, we had to leave at 5:00am. Unfortunately, when we showed up at 4:30am the lights were off and nothing was out. Fruit came out ten minutes later but no hot food that morning for us!
Lastly- upon checkout- my sister asked for an itemized receipt for the room service to ensure it was correct. The receptionist said he would get it to her.. after she paid? I tried to explain she needed a breakdown of the price and he cut me off and said one moment. When she paid he printed out a receipt that was not itemized.. this really was very frustrating on top of everything else we’d dealt with.
I will say the location is optimal and felt safe for my sisters and I as it is very...
