BOCADO — Local services in Madrid

At Bocado, we had the schnitzel, fried halloumi, a seasonal purslane salad (with roasted almonds, goat cheese, and avocado), and sweet potato fries. Everything we ate was tasty, but we especially loved the salad and the fried halloumi. The schnitzel was fine — above average but not exceptional. The salad was fresh, well-balanced, and really enjoyable. We could’ve skipped the sweet potato fries, as the other dishes were already satisfying enough.

The place itself is small, cozy, and has a romantic atmosphere. It’s also a nice spot to stop by for coffee. The staff were kind, attentive, and friendly. I arrived at 13:10 , first comment with a very big attitude , “ I don’t know when we will be open “ . Google said open at 12:30 and so as their billboard outside .

Tables were all full , everyone waiting g for the sever to come to work , she arrived 13:30 and took the order .

Instead of making the kitchen work they were receiving all the merchandise and putting the carton away .

Who does this with a full restaurant when everyone is waiting for their food ??

30 minutes later no food so I left , they said the food was still not ready . I had been there already 45 min .

There are way better restaurants in the neighborhood without this attitude , try hermanas Arce instead or Pacifico for burgers . Completely not with your time...

Wow.

I was very surprised by this gastropub which turns into a smash burger place after 8pm. We took the double patty burger and it was absolutely delicious.

The burger is very well put together, they really hit the golden ratio between meat, cheese, size, and condiments, nothing is dripping, everything is held together and the bun was perfect. This place easily fits into my top 5 smash burger places I have tried around the world.

They also offer sweet potato fries with a homemade sauce (which was missing a bit of a kick to it, that’s my only complaint.
