I’d give it one star if not 0, but the food was ok so I’ll leave that there at a mere 2. First off when we arrived we were left waiting outside in the rain while waiting for our table. There is no waiting area, we were there waiting alongside many others. As we entered we could see the previous customers had been rushed out the door to give us our table, the table appearance sloppy, barely cleaned off and plates and cutlery slammed down for us to be seated quickly. Once we had sat down, we took a look at the menu, had ordered our food and drinks.
The problem started when we were charged for bread we hadn’t eaten, €2.50 per person, along with involuntary donations which we were never told about on our bill. As my other half had done to the bathroom once we had finished our main course, everything was slacked off the table in a quick manner, as if they were preparing us to leave. A dessert menu was slapped on the table, but I didn’t want any. The server, who before had been cordial, had turned essentially sour that I had replied to him to say that I don’t want any dessert / coffee, he took the menu off me as I asked for the bill, and proceeded to talk about me aloud to the opposite server right IN FRONT of the table, mimicking what I had said to him, which simply was, that I didn’t want a dessert or coffee. I was extremely offended, I didn’t want to make a scene but it had left me very upset and uncomfortable. Once he had seen me take my cash out, he ran to my attention to take it off me and again, the same “ quick manner “ to make us uncomfortable enough to want to leave so they can push the next batch of customers in. It’s not an experience, the experience ends the minute you finish your meal, and the atmosphere and service then turns immediately bitter. They do not care about you, they only care about the next set of customers and treating customers badly. Wouldn’t return, and most definitely should have taken my birthday experience elsewhere… so disappointed as it had great reviews. But this was an utter fail on the restaurant’s behalf.
If you like to be treated badly and to be shooed out the door not giving you time to even digest anything, by all means come here. Relaxation and enjoyment doesn’t seem to be a strong point. Involuntary food / donations was a major issue in my...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Villa Capri in Madrid, an Italian restaurant that brings the charm of the Amalfi Coast to the heart of the city. Located at Calle de Hortaleza, 118, Villa Capri offers a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of 1970s Capri, complete with vintage décor, colorful furnishings, and an abundance of floral arrangements.
The restaurant’s ambiance is lively and inviting, with multiple dining areas, including a picturesque terrace adorned with flowers and nautical elements. The interior features eclectic decorations such as vintage magazines, Murano lamps, and even statues of mermaids, creating a whimsical and immersive dining environment.
Villa Capri’s menu showcases a variety of Italian dishes, with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced from both Italy and local producers. The pasta dishes are particularly noteworthy; for instance, the ‘Fxck Me I’m Famous’ features large ravioli filled with carbonara sauce, topped with crispy guanciale and pecorino cheese. The pizzas, crafted in the Neapolitan style, boast a light and airy crust with flavorful toppings. Additionally, the antipasti selection includes creative options like the ‘Tomato Tatín,’ a savory twist on the classic French dessert, featuring caramelized tomatoes and provolone cheese.
The service at Villa Capri is attentive and friendly, with staff members who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to provide recommendations. It’s advisable to make reservations in advance, as the restaurant tends to be busy, especially during peak dining hours.
In summary, Villa Capri offers a delightful Italian dining experience in Madrid, combining a lively and picturesque setting with a menu that pays homage to the flavors of southern Italy. Whether you’re seeking a romantic dinner spot or a place to enjoy a meal with friends, Villa Capri is a...
Read moreVilla Capri is one of those unique places that have 20k reviews and still an outstanding 4.7 rating on Maps, so I was obviously intrigued to see if my experience, and my friends, was going to be spotless too. Sadly, it wasn't.
To start off, we got to the restaurant 25 minutes before our reservation (we understand that that was on us and our reservation was not for another 25 minutes), we waited in the teeny tiny entrance room for 10 solid minutes before someone bothered to come attend to us. Said person, the floor manager I'd assume, not only told us that there was no reservation for 5 under our friend's name, causing her to actually show him that it was right in front of him on his tablet, but he also told us that he doesn't even have any tables for 5 for the day, the restaurant was half empty then, mind you. After my friend did his job and showed him our reservation, he proceeded to tell us that now he does have a table for 5 but that we'll have to wait till our reservation time. Do you have the table or do you not, because the back and forth was unpleasant.
On to the good things: . The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning, especially the bar area. . The dishware is very cute and as aesthetic as the restaurant itself is. . We ordered the pasta with meatballs (very filling), a Caesar salad to share (delicious but too expensive for just lettuce, croutons and the 4 slices of chicken we found on it), the carbonara pastas and two lasagnas (the sauce and filling were good and while it was filling, the pasta itself had no shape or firmness so it just melted in your mouth). . I personally got the 4€ mocktail which was absolutely divine!
I absolutely would recommend going to Villa Capri but I personally wouldn't recommend getting the salad and lasagna and I hope the service will be better the next...
