MHM Chinese Food 美麗華酒樓 — Local services in Lucerne

After reading reviews about Sunday night delivery taking a little longer, we started our online order at 5:30pm. We received an ETA of 59mins, which we were prepared for.

What we weren't prepared for was having to call at 7:38pm to ask where our food was, a further hour after I received a message online that the restaurant confirmed it was on its way. When I spoke to the restaurant, they lied and said that there was a 'traffic jam' in the city. We live 4mins drive away (maximum), and Google Maps confirmed that there was NO traffic at the time, so to suggest a 1hr traffic jam in Luzern on a Sunday night is a bit far-fetched. Even if there was a delay, a courtesy call after 2hrs would have been nice when someone pays over 120CHF for Chinese takeaways. By almost 8pm our kids were begging for toast for dinner when it finally arrived.

The food itself was OK, but both dishes described as 'spicy' were extremely mild, a lot of onion was used to bulk out the dishes, and the noodles had a bizarre taste. It is safe to say I won't be recommending this restaurant. I had hoped MHM Chinese would prove the negative reviews wrong, as I always prefer to write 5 star reviews, but sadly they did not on this occasion. Given that this seems to be an ongoing theme, perhaps more kitchen staff or delivery drivers on a Sunday night would be part of a good business plan to improve service and keep up with the higher...

One of the few stores still open later than most restaurants. As an Asian, food was delicious and Asian-certified. Service was fast and welcoming (I was a bit surprised as I didn’t expect it in a European country, but also I do look Asian so). We had a bit of misunderstanding and over-ordered. If they say that the right-hand side of the menu has rice, they mean that it is a plateful of the viand with an added cup of rice; does not mean bento-style. I was craving fruit tea also so this restaurant was gold to me in a city that didn’t have a night life. Milk tea was only available during the day apparently if anyone...

Honestly not sure why some of the reviews are negative. This was one of the most tasty (and authentic) chinese food that I have tasted in Switzerland. Staff was very friendly as well and portion sizes were large (got 4 mains and rice for 7 ppl to share) and allowed for sharing, making the food very affordable. Would highly recommend for...
