Café de Ville | Restaurant Schwanen — Restaurant in Lucerne

On a day trip to Lucerne, we stopped by Restaurant Schwanen/Cafe De Ville for a coffee and pastry. The restaurant is second floor upstairs, the cafe is in the square outside the front door. Beautiful city, beautiful weather.

Outside was crowded so we opted for the restaurant. Gorgeous inside, old school European hotel flair. Great views from windows on the second floor!

The coffees and pastry (chocolate croissant) were good. Service was a bit hurried, likely because we were having coffee not eating lunch. Still, a nice experience. ...

Lovely atmosphere, this place is very well presented with table linens etc. We were seated during a busier period after just turning up which was nice. We both had hot chocolates and they were just "ok". It was hot.milk and packet hot chocolate, the way this establishment is presented I must admit I was hoping for something a bit special, perhaps more thought on the presentation. The hot chocolate was tasty, but more like something I would expect out of Switzerland equivalent to a Costa, which was unexpected from a place that looks...

absolute perfection. what a stellar lunch experience we enjoyed at this completely refreshing surprise! give me its location. you would expect this to be as tourist trap as they come but not so go upstairs and eat in the dining room or out on the terrace you're in for a wonderful experience. absolutely perfectly prepared dishes. some of the best calamari I've ever had. lovely service in this historic setting. and best of all, the price is a bargain for Swiss dining in much less a...
