It’s more than a visitor centre, more of a mini museum in its own right and well worth a visit. Also oddly attached to a pub! You can learn about how the painted hall was constructed - oddly more than when you visit the painted hall; the palace that used to be on the grounds; background of the naval college and pensioners; lift a lance, check out armour, see what has been dug up and more. There are also several exhibits for kids, from building with faux-stone to re-arranging the college buildings to improve on Wren’s design (adults might also like this) to ‘feel and guess’. We ended up spending an hour here with no trouble at all. The only bit that feels odd is the mezzanine level which suggests you can experience a battle but then the signs suggest it’s gory, only for kids over 10 and an extra charge. Despite the centre being busy, no-one went up there. It also seems only accessible by stairs with the lift being reserved for staff use. It also has toilets, a school room and multiple entrances (pub, the west) but come from the river and see a grand frontage with a ‘don’t sit or climb’ cannon.

Visitor centre tells the history this area in Greenwich, touching on all the key subjects. Tickets also on sale for the major attraction, the Painted Hall, and there is the usual shop I would suggest a visit, it will whet your appetite for what else is on offer.

Good public exhibits, though there seems to be more of an emphasis now on trying to sell you stuff, with a small cafe in-house. The signs at the entrance say the WCs are only for paying customers, but in practice that doesn't seem to be the case.

Me and my partner found this place after a boat ride up the river Thames as the tour guide told us the queens building is free to enter, but found this place with masses of history and we love history we thought we give it a try, its £12 per adult, but we found out at no extra cost you can have a full years membership for me and my partner for £24, the site is huge, so you will always find something interesting here, with a full year access there, we our going to have more great times there, plus the site has great places to have a picnic there too. Kids are welcome there too, it's a must if you...

I popped in yesterday and asked if there was any show with performances and activities this weekend in Greenwich (I saw something online in passing a few days ealier) . I was told there was only the pirate age show with mainly food stalls and some reenactors around the grounds of the museum. Nothing else. The lady staff failed to tell me that there was a big event, just inside the park, with various entertainment. That's bad customer service and no knowledge of the events going on the day. I wasted a journey....
