As someone who has never personally purchased from MAC Cosmetics, I feel it's important to express my concerns based on extensive research and the principles I stand for. My critical perspective isn't about the products themselves but about the ethical implications of supporting the brand, a subsidiary of Estée Lauder Companies.
I've learned about various issues that trouble me, from potential skin irritants in their products to the controversy surrounding their animal testing policies. These are common concerns in the cosmetics industry, but they become more pronounced when considering a brand as influential as MAC.
More significantly, my main objection lies in the connection between MAC, through Estée Lauder, and their activities related to the State of Israel. The political and social complexities associated with this issue are profound, and any corporate involvement can be seen as taking a stance, whether intentional or not. As a consumer and a concerned citizen, I believe in the importance of neutrality in such sensitive matters, especially from global corporations with a significant influence.
I understand the appeal of MAC's diverse product range and its popularity in the beauty industry. However, I urge potential customers to consider the broader impact of their patronage. It's crucial to think about the ethical stance and corporate responsibilities of the brands we support. While I don't wear makeup myself, I believe in advocating for informed choices and encouraging others to reflect on where their money goes and what it may inadvertently support.
I hope my perspective, as someone outside the direct consumer base, offers a unique view and encourages you to reconsider your loyalty to MAC Cosmetics, taking into account not just the quality of their products but the values and implications...
Read moreThe actual Mac stall is great and I had no problems with finding what I needed. However in Selfridges I’ve never experienced such customer service. I understand that it can get very busy during the day especially at an epicentre like Mac in Selfridges but It’s surprising how out of touch some of the people they hire are. I go to Mac once every couple of months and there always tends to be new workers, my experience hasn’t always been like this as it really depends on the workers. This recent time was pretty dull as I was ignored twice aswell as one worker who saw I was finding trouble with the foundation for 5 mins decided to completely ignore me. I’ve worked in retail so I know how working 8 hours on your feet dealing with 100 people in a couple hours can be draining but I would recommend that workers be trained to talk and deal with heavy customer flow in a more positive and tentative way because it makes the shopping experience better for...
Read moreHad the best afternoon meeting 'Mus' at the MAC counter in Selfridges, London yesterday... such a pleasure to talk to, his knowledge of the brand, the products, the colours, THE EVERYTHING is unbelievable... in fact, while we were speaking, he had several of the other staff interrupting us with them asking him questions about products that they didn't know the answers to! It seems he is known as THE GURU!! :) I personally think he is just brilliant, a real asset to that counter and an amazing brand ambassador for MAC!! They should be very proud to have someone as good as Mus on their team! Thank you for your time @Mus... I will be booking in a 60minute tutorial with you asap! Best...
