Unreliable and Unbearable Uber Boat Service We booked the Uber Cruise Hop-On/Off service for our international visitors on Monday, August 12th, hoping to show them a great day out on the Thames. Unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. On a hot summer day, all the boats were delayed by approximately 20 minutes. We boarded at the London Eye but were unable to reach Greenwich, forcing us to disembark at the Tower of London. After another 25-minute wait, the next boat arrived but was already at full capacity, meaning we had to wait yet again. The entire experience was a disaster, with long queues and excessive waiting times. The boats themselves offered limited views outside, with some areas cordoned off, making it difficult to fully enjoy the scenery and take photos. While the interior was spacious, many of the boats we boarded lacked functioning air conditioning, and the windows were dirty—completely unacceptable on such a hot day. The staff would not leave the doors open for some air circulation citing health and safety, yet inside it was almost sauna conditions. The only positive aspect was the staff, who were polite and informative throughout the ordeal. Overall, I would not recommend this service to tourists looking for a pleasant river experience. It was absolutely disappointing and unbearable. I will be considering alternative cruise options...

I asked the guy in the ticket booth at the London Eye Pier if the next boat was stopping at Royal Wharf. “Yes” he said.
I asked the pier staff at the London Eye Pier if the next boat was stopping at Royal Wharf. “Yes” he said.
The next boat did NOT stop at Royal Wharf and terminated at North Greenwich on the wrong side of the river from where I needed to get to.
I get the feeling that if I’d asked them if the next boat was going to the Moon, they’d still have said “Yes”.
Basically don’t trust anything the ticket booth or pier staff tell you, I suspect their training doesn’t extend much beyond “that’s a boat, that’s the river, you start Monday”.
PROS:
Despite my trip terminating at the wrong stop and on the wrong side of the river, I’d still recommend the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers service to everyone.
On a beautiful, sunny spring day there can’t be a better way to travel around London, getting unique views of some of London’s most well-known landmarks all in a luxury World’s away from the Tube, whilst not...
Read moreA pretty woeful first experience with Thames Clippers/Uber Boats. I attempted to book tickets through the Uber App, 1st attempt was unsuccessful, 2nd attempt kicked me back to the app 'home page'. No tickets issued yet I had 2 pending transactions on my account.
Managed to book tickets through the website, then when we tried to get a boat from the London Eye Pier, we were told by a very rude and patronising attendant it would be a 55 min wait at least. The reason....their boats weren't big enough to handle the numbers on a Saturday, but we would have to wait in line all that time to secure a seat rather than have a time slot. Only reason it had a 2 star rating is their customer service via that chat ont he website was very helpful and issued refunds for the 'failed' transactions and unused tickets within minutes.
Do yourself a favour and use City Cruises...
