We went for a Sunday evening dinner after a Paddington Experience. I saw some pictures of dim sum on the wall which lured us in. The restaurant had a nice look to it but the waiters and service folk were not very cohesive nor informative when choosing dishes especially vegetarian. They showed us a vegetarian and gluten free menu as we entered when I asked about vegetarian options as most in our party were vegetarian. Unfortunately there were only 3 starters that were vegetarian and all else had to be adjusted although waiter said they could remove egg from the noodles but the noodles contained eggs- meh!
Portions of dim sum were very slim. A platter of a variety of non veg dim consisted of a huge … 4 pieces. As waiter wasn’t very giving with this information, we ordered less than was needed perhaps our fault for not asking and assuming a platter could mean more than least 4 as single portions were 3 or when I asked on the vegetarian options of steamer buns. I’m going to say for the prices per dish, you’re better off going to a pricier establishment as at least you’d get the authentic flavours of Chinese food in. These guys sent our rice in and not the chicken dish nor vegetarian rice for almost 20 minutes after one of the main dishes of plain rice arrived. When this was addressed to the staff who let himself be known as the manager, he smiled and said don’t worry about it I will send over a free rice! We didn’t need free rice, we wanted to have a warm wholesome dinner with a few friends and our children. The food was incredibly bland and over priced. I can’t recommend this place for any meal, lunch or dinner as the entire experience was an awful lengthy ordeal of pitiful portioned mediocre dish after dish. I’d give this a miss and get straight to Hakkasan in the future. Thanks but no thanks. Our bill was around £270 not including service charge which we...
Read moreWhat an amazing restaurant and one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to!!!
I came here yesterday on 12 September with my family for my birthday. The interior is sophisticated and classy and they had given me a table by the window right opposite Big Ben.
The food was exceptional. We had their signature whole Peking Duck which was just divine. Separated between breast and leg portion you could experience both succulent and juicy. We had their signature special fried rice and king prawn fried rice which both had generous portions of prawns. Choi sum and oyster sauce had the right delicacy to be soft and firm where even some of the best China Town restaurants make it too hard. Sweet and sour pork had the right tartness to it while the salt and pepper calamari is a must. Not to be outdone by the Peking duck, we ordered Cantonese roast duck too. Delicious would be an understatement as the duck was lean with enough fat to be tasty but not so much to be overbearing like in other places. We finished the meal with mango sago pomelo (a perfect dessert) and the creme brûlée which was amazing.
I must give a huge shout out to the staff and their service. Our waitress was lovely and so accommodating. She was patient, polite and so professional. I also want to give a shout out to Bradley who was also so nice. Seeing my father struggling with steps, he helped us to get my father out of the building and gave his personal touch to our table.
One of the best and most memorable birthday dinners I...
Read moreWelcome to a new player in town this amazing restaurant is in the most prime location in london. On to the food, the pork was well cooked well seasoned, so say my Hong Kong Chines table mates as I don’t eat pork, we then had deep fried calamari which was well seasoned and chewy but well cooked.
I tried it with the chilly oil and that made it even more delicious. I was was advised that is was traditional dish, I didn’t get a chance to try the dishes I would normally order as this was a launch so the menu was limited. Maybe on another visit I can update this review. The bar is well stocked and well located, very stylish indeed.
The restaurant is in the best possible location overlooking the london eye through one window, which will make it the most sought after location on New Year’s Eve. Out of another window you can see the Houses of Parliament and the river Thames, incredible views so the prices will be justified because of where you are. This is the sister restaurant to one in china so it’s a massive investment.
The staff were of course lovely and polite with plenty of smiles and care when delivering food to our tables. On this night I was literally the only nine Chinese guest so I had the pleasure of sharing a table with people who knew what the food...
