I have been going to various FLGS's for only a few years now (5, come to think of it), and I have always steered clear of the stereotypical smelly and dimly lit sceptic tanks full of shambling fail elementals what call themselves stores. This is not one of those stores!
Before visiting from out of state, I dropped a message via Facebook and got a very prompt response even though the hour was getting pretty late. The person at the other end answered all questions and gave some great info. That weekend, I came in to find my meager expectations blown out of the water. The back was busy with a MtG release event (I assume) and people were chilling out on the couches. And the best part? No smell! Indeed, the whole place felt really welcoming and familiar. This was the type of store I have grown so used to.
Sure, I had to wait a little before being noticed or helped by the gents behind the counter, but at least one was actually helping another customer at the time. Not sure what the other was doing... But when it was my turn, the employee was very prompt to satisfy my needs and, even though he got busy shortly after, was able to finish the transaction so I could get on my merry.
If I lived nearby, I would definitely return. Indeed, I will definitely come back next time I am visiting the in-laws.
Seriously, the only thing wrong with this place that I could see was just the wait to be helped at the counter. But if them doing good business is the worst thing going for them, then we've found ourselves a...
Read moreI went to this store in early December looking for some Pokemon cards to give as gifts. I went in the afternoon and the store was empty, with two employees behind the counter. One was sleeving Magic cards and putting them into a binder. The other was standing there not doing anything. They were talking to each other and laughing. I walked up to the counter and asked if I could look at the binder of single Pokemon cards. The guy who wasn’t doing anything came over and looked annoyed that I asked. He said nothing and pulled the out and put it on the counter. I knew what I was looking for so I didn’t take too long. I asked for the pricing on 3 cards. He sighed and took then out of the binder and looked up the prices. He told me the prices and I said I would get 2/3 of the cards I asked about. I was going to look for more but he seemed annoyed the whole time. So I just decided to be done. I bought the cards and went to a different place that sold Pokemon cards. Nothing too bad happened but it was just not an enjoyable encounter. Probably won’t be back unfortunately. I told my friend about this and he said he had another friend who had a...
Read moreThe place is nice. Well decorated. They have a large floor space, with many tables for hosting games. They have a selection of current comic books, several long boxes of back issues, and a large selection of trade paperbacks/graphic novels and compendiums. They have many high end super hero statues for sale, and some action figures. They have a decent Warhammer offering, and a really fantastic selection of board and other tabletop games.
I haven't had any problems with the staff.
Their hours are pretty limited since they reopened post-Covid lockdowns a couple years ago. They are now open past six P.M. only on Wednesday. I went there at that time and there were alot of people there playing card games like Magic.
The negatives: I'd probably go there more frequently, but it's hard for me to get there when they are open. They haven't updated their website for seven years. Someone smashed their glass back door a few years ago and it's not been fixed (just covered...
