I am appalled by the behavior of one of the employees and the owner of this bookstore. After a very popular author event, we were told the author couldn’t sign all the books and they would send signed stickers out to everyone who purchased books. The store has repeatedly refused to send my bookplate (sticker), chastised me in the store for asking for it again, and the owner has been horrible over email. I paid for goods that I did not receive and have been told to stop asking. One of the employees told me that it was rude when I hung up the phone, after she called me liar for saying that I was told I would get a bookplate for the book I purchased to be signed. No one deserves to be spoken to like that by a store employee when asking where the product is that you paid for. Of course I hung up the phone. I was willing to give them another chance, and was met with hostility and refusal to provide what I paid for. I’ve included a screenshot of an email response from the owner of the store. They pretend to be inclusive and welcoming, yet this is the response I’ve received when I have repeatedly inquired about an item I paid for and never received. I have been treated with kindness when I’ve been in there multiple times a month giving them money, but once an issue arose, this was the treatment I’ve received. There are plenty of amazing bookstores in Albuquerque and I recommend you frequent those rather than giving your money to a store that not only fails to provide product that was paid for, but treats their customers like...
Read moreBooks on the Bosque is a cute little bookstore on the West side inside Riverside Plaza. The bookstore focuses on new books, although there are a few scattered used selections and then an antiquarian books section. They’ve got treats, coffee, and a seating area for reading or chatting with friends.
The day I visited on a Sunday early evening they had a live jazz band playing and there are events through the week.
There’s a children’s section, middle readers, YA, mystery, classics, antiquarian, sci-fi, biography & memoir, new releases, and other sections.
I wish there would have been more titles, and specially used selections, as buying new books for list price can add up very quickly. The bookstore just opened last year, so ideally they’ll fill more of the space with further titles as...
Read moreI've popped in several times to Books On the Bosque and have always enjoyed it. Today was Indie Bookstore day, and my friends and I did a bookstore crawl. The staff was kind, and I loved the prize wheel, set up. It was really a nice touch. The store is always clean, well organized, and has a delightful and varied selection of books.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is there have been two instances where I have called to find out if they have a particular book in stock, before I drove into to town (I don't live in ABQ), and the phone just rings and rings. No one answers and it doesn't go to voice mail. Because of that, I wound up...
