Curio — Local services in Asheville

Not enough can be said about this marvelous magical place!!! For starters, the shop is quaint yet bountiful.

We visited Curio while vacationing in Asheville. The snug layout is wrought with character, and the toy selection is impressive for such a modest space. The staff with whom we interacted in-store was fantastic. They had lots of product knowledge and were accommodating, interactive, and informative. One lady introduced us to some new toy brands we didn't know and got down on out toddler's level to play with him during our shopping adventure.

What really blew my mind was 2 weeks later when we were back in our hometown 100s of miles away and noticed a defect in one of our purchases... 1 phone call to the store, and an exchange/replacement process was underway.

This level of service is amazing and a joy to experience these days!!!

We loved how many classic style toys they have in stock and the cleanliness of the whole place was remarkable.

If we had walked in the door just to look around and play I genuinely believe we'd have been treated just as well, so this place is a "must-go" whether you're buying or browsing.

Seriously... Curio has that old school intimate neighborhood nook shop appeal with a modern age fun twist. Do yourself a favor, and pop in! ESPECIALLY if you have kids with you.

I was recently in the store, shopping for toys for my special needs daughter. She has a very rare genetic mutation that causes seizures and developmental delays. It makes it very difficult to shop for her because she can't tell me what she likes. Upon walking into Curio, we were instantly greeted by the girls running the store that evening, Via and Morgan. They had previously been helping my mother with things to get for my daughter. They had gone and specifically ordered numerous toys that my daughter would like. It was an absolute pleasure meeting them. In this day and age, it is refreshing meeting others that love my kids the way I do. It genuinely seemed that they feel just that. I will most certainly be going back to Curio as they have gained a lifelong customer. Even my husband was excited about these cool new toys, and he never gets that excited about anything! The place was great. I’m leaving a 2-star review because I felt personally insulted by the staff in a weird way. I went to compliment an employee for a shirt they were wearing - which had characters from all of the movies I grew up as a small child watching (mind you, in all those years I’d only ever seen the name of the studio, never heard it).

So, when I pronounced the name of the studio wrong the staff member took it upon themself to correct me, call me a millennial, and tell me essentially that I wasn’t a real fan, then proceeded to explain to their coworker why I was not an original fan.

I have never felt so angry or insulted over something so insignificant in my life. It really bothered...
