First I apologize for writing such a late review. My family and I took the silver ring class on Saturday, Aug. 5 and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I had originally signed up my daughter and I but then at the last minute, my two older sons (24 and 21) wanted to participate and Ignite was so gracious in letting them do so. I was amazed at how engaged they all were. I was absolutely surprised and would have never guessed they enjoyed themselves as much as they did - as did I! I attribute all of that to Instructor Amy. Amy was SUPER FABULOUS!!!!! WOW!!! She was AMAZING!!!! She was attentive. She was knowledgeable. She was friendly and funny and warm. It was our first time making rings and she treated us with such respect and broke down the process step-by-step for us. She made it fun and a memory we will cherish forever. I flew across the country to attend a two-day Metalsmithing 101 workshop with Jessica and her assistant Amy, and it did not disappoint! Working at our own fully equipped worktables, each student focused on making three different jewelry projects as the basis for learning all the important aspects of metal-smithing for jewelry: sawing metal, filing and sanding, soldering, riveting, shaping/forming/stamping, bezel/stone setting, and finishing/polishing. It was a tremendous amount to learn in two days, and both Jessica and Amy were consistently positive, kind, thoughtful, and patient teachers. Jessica demo'd everything we did first, then they helped us every step of the way to make sure we practiced the new techniques on our own projects. Took the studios intro to jewelry making class this past weekend with teachers/jewelers- Jessica & Meredith. The class was amazing I learned so many great skills to create my own jewelry. We made two metal pendants, stacking rings and a set stone pendant. I loved the freedom to create your own design on the stone pendant and second metal riveted pendant as well. Jessica & Meredith were very patient, understanding, helpful and all around wonderful teachers. I had never used a saw, torch, solder or worked with metal before this class. I feel because of their teaching I have a great handle on these techniques. Still have more to learn but I am comfortable with these tools.
