The head trainer, Timothy āTJā Fourney, is extremely rude and condescending. I just joined the club to go swimming but was told I get a free fitness consultation. I thought, Why not? He was much nicer over the phone. In person, we had the exact same conversation we had over the phone except he was more of a lot ruder and more condescending and he remembered nothing of what I said. He treated me like a fitness idiot despite the fact that I told him I played soccer for 14 years, basketball for 6, swimming for 3, have had a gym membership for 7 years, and have been doing pole dancing and yoga for about a year. I have a suspicion he was being condescending just because Iām a little fat. He was surprised that I had been doing lunges yesterday. He also told me I was lying when I said I eat out 3xās per week. Again idk why he said that. It could be because of my weight. It could be because he eats out more often than that. Whatever the case, I didnāt think we had established the type of rapport where he could talk to me like that. When I told him I was working on pole conditioning he laughed saying āIāve never heard anyone call it pole conditioning.ā Itās a common term in the pole community. I even showed him but he didnāt care. When I told him my fitness goal was to go down to 30% of body fat from 40%, he told me that wasnāt healthy even though on the chart he showed me, it said it was average. I also looked it up and the American Fitness Association also says thatās normal for women. I told him my doctor told me I was healthy and he still argued with me that my goal wasnāt healthy. Earlier, when he said I had 127 lbs of lean body weight, I said āoh cool! I used to weigh that much.ā I was only speaking out loud to myself to say, āWow. I must be way stronger than I was before.ā But he brought it back up and said āYou used to weigh 127. Donāt you want to weigh that much again?ā And I said āNo. Because I had disordered eating at the time.ā He finally dropped it. Then he had me doing this really basic and boring exercises. I know that lifting weights isnāt the most exciting thing to do in the world but I had a personal trainer at Crunch Fitness once when I lived in NYC and she was way more exciting! But maybe Iāve just been doing pole dancing so long that regular degular gym rat routines are just bland to me. After the the routine, he asked me if I had fun. I said no and he had this grin on his face that looked like he was holding back his anger. Then he asked me if Iād be able to reach my goal doing what Iām already doing and I said yes, because itās equally intense but pole dancing and swimming are more interesting and fun so Iāll be more likely to enjoy myself and stick with my routine than if he was my personal trainer. Then he argued with me and said pole dancing wouldnāt allow me to build muscle because itās more cardio. I told him that wasnāt true at all and that itās a lot of strength. He said itās more core and I told him that thatās not true either; itās a lot of upper body in addition to core. Then he said āIām going to write down what you said.ā And he wrote down something similar to what I said but twisted my words. The vibe was already bad but it just got worse. For a guy whoās been a fitness trainer for 17 years, he doesnāt seem to know much about pole fitness which is fine but he wasnāt open to learning from me at all. Heās more like a used cars salesman than a personal trainer but maybe thatās what you get at big chain gyms because he called me again today and left a message as if weāve never met! They keep calling my phone harassing me when all I wanted was to use their pool.
Update: I canceled my membership with them almost immediately and was able to reach my goals without him doing pole dancing and walking (I wish I had time for swimming but I donāt rn). I will set up a new goal for myself to go from 30% body fat to 25% but because I want to be better at pole. Not because I was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisiting from Florida, and I havenāt been to this location in a few years. This is by far is the worst location that Iāve ever been to traveling. Walking up to the door and the doors were disgustingly dirty. On my way to the womenās lockers room some weird creepy looking psycho kept looking at me all crazy. Definitely low energy vibes ! Locker room was filthy. Not at all how it used to be, and then the entire steam room was gutted out.
I didnāt even workout, I just ended up leaving. My guess is that this is a franchised location and the owner just doesnāt gaf about the place. Probably couldnāt afford to keep the steam going. Members really need to report this location to their corporate office. LA fitness has some serious concerns for remodeling a lot of their locations especially if they plan on keeping up with planet fitness. Itās a shame that they would let it go down so bad instead of trying to maintain it properly. Clearly they need all new staff and a new owner. On my way out an Uber driver stopped me to ask if I knew anything about a aƧaĆ bar. I told him there was nothing like that in the shopping plaza outside of LA Fitness. He ended up walking upstairs and getting his Uber order from the juice bar inside of LA FITNESS. I guess their doing real bad. Lol Good lord. Avoid at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYay to this LA Fitness location. I never write reviews; however, following a recent interaction at the front desk, I must commend Drake for his exceptional customer service!!! Despite my numerous inquiries, Drake handled each question with professionalism and courtesy, making me feel valued as a client. Moving forward, I'll specifically seek assistance from Drake due to his outstanding demeanor and assistance. 8 weeks ago, I started cheating on the LifeTime Fitness gym located 3 mins away! LifeTime is wonderful but my personal trainer left to conquer her own business endeavors!! Iāve been secretly worried about making my switch official because of LifeTimeās excellent customer service. Not anymore!! Thanks to Drake, Iāll happily be here until my trainer announces her official opening! Lastly, I have to mention that Iāve been visiting this gym 3-4 times per week and I've regularly experienced a welcoming atmosphere here. The staff members consistently greet me with a smile and wish me well for my workout. This location has been A+ clean 98% of the time. The equipment here could never compare to LifeTimeās but this LA Fitness location has yet to feel overcrowded no matter my arrival time (an additional reason I decided to leave LifeTime). Here I have more time for my actual...
