Let me say, I did not like my food! My gosh it was terrible and for the price, not worth it. I was confused as to how to enter the restaurant, as I came through the bar entrance so because of that, I ended up eating at the bar. The decor is nice but the vibe was meh. I ordered a mocktail, which was super citrusy, but good. I started off with the local greens which was the best thing I ate today aside from my drink! The Dijon dressing had a bit of a bite to it, but it wasn't bad. The veggies were fresh and I found the dish presentation pretty. However, the 2 mistakes that I had in the confit chicken and lamb pizza were a complete food disaster. First off, that pizza was so heavy from the meat and toppings, the bread underneath was super soggy and it wasn't that appetizing. The meat was a combination of salty and lacking flavor, then the baba ghanoush, that claimed to be on the pizza was scarce. Then on top of that, there was avocado?! I mean, I like mixing it up but this has too many things plus the overly excessive green herbs on top. A hot mess. Then that confit chicken was by far the worst thing I've eaten in a long time. That blue cheese overpowered that dish and because this was in the jous beneath the chicken, nothing else ate right on that plate. Plus, the sweet pomegranate dressing on the salad was just fighting with that blue cheese. I couldn't even eat it and pushed it off to the side. Now the chicken was cooked perfectly, but it had no seasoning! I see the jous served as the seasoning, but because the blue cheese made it inedible, I just ate the chicken. Needless to say I will never be returning here again. Make better food where the flavors aren't competing or overpowering the other. Decent drinks, but I would pass...
Read moreMade reservations here for a work dinner because I had always wanted to try the place after walking by their midtown location. For appetizers , the patatas and brussels sprouts were well done, though not that different from other places. The focaccia had a lovely mouth feel, and texture, but couldn’t really taste any of the herbs. I had been looking forward to the fried goat cheese balls since I hadn’t tried anything like that before, but overall they weren’t as good as I was hoping. For the main course, portions were much smaller than I was expecting for the price and OK but unfortunately pretty bland. The servers were really attentive and good. One of our group had ordered the squash pizza, and the manager came to let him know that they had “screwed up the pizza“ and brought him a salad to enjoy while they remade it (complete points to them for being for forthright and honest about the delay) but by the time they had brought him the remade meal, the rest of us were already nearly finished our entrées, even though we were trying to eat really slow (and thus our entrées were cold by the time we finished it). The decor was upscale, smart, casual but on par for what I would expect for a nice restaurant.
Overall, a decent place for a slightly nicer than average evening out (think seasons 52 or similar) but not a meal/experience that is likely to stand out in my memory. Unfortunately, for them, Atlanta has lots of other options at the same price point with better food, better price, portion ratio, and a more interesting local/experience, so not sure when I will make it back to give them...
Read moreI went to Ecco Buckhead a few nights ago with one of my friends, and we both were excited to try it out for the first time. After we waited to be seated, we got our very inattentive waitress. She took our order for appetizers, and I ordered the stuffed piquillo peppers. When I tried one, it felt as if it had come straight out of the refrigerator! it was so cold. So after a couple of minutes of trying to get help from the waitress, the manager returns back to the table with new peppers apologizes and tells me it will be "on the house" which was okay in my book. So we ate our appetizers and bread while we watched our waitress pass by us multiple times without even taking our order for our entree's which we had been ready to order. Over 30 minutes later, she returns to our dirty table and asks if everything was okay. Of course we said we wouldb like our table cleared, water cups filled up, and to finally be able to order the entrees. So she complied and took our orders. When we got the food, it was lukewarm and mediocre for the price. The portions were incredibly small. ( I ordered the artichoke risotto.) I finished very quickly and at that point just wanted to get the check. So we got our checks and when I looked at mine the Piquillo peppers that were allegedly "on the house" were still on my bill. At that point, we had been at the restaurant nearly 2 hours and I really didn't feel like waiting for the waitress to rectify her error, I was truly just ready to go. So we just paid it and left. That was my experience at Ecco Buckhead and I can honestly say I will...
