I have never left a bad internet review for anything - usually I'm the kind of person who will just take a negative experience as a lesson and move on, but this feels different. I went in to have a pretty simple haircut: just taking off a few inches, no big changes in style. The stylist got to work and asked if I ever straightened my hair. I said no, but she went ahead and straightened it with a flat iron to cut it. I thought "Whatever, I don't like my hair straightened, but if that's what she needs to do then whatever." The haircut ended up being $70 without tip, and I thought that seemed a little high for such a simple cut. That night I went home and saw the email receipt. They had given me an up-charge of $10 for "Add on Iron Work". I felt totally taken advantage of because I didn't ask for my hair to be straightened (I don't like my hair that way), the stylist didn't ask me if I wanted it straightened, and she didn't tell me there would be an up-charge for straightening it! On top of that, since she smoothed out my hair while cutting, when I showered and let it dry naturally, it was way too heavy and poofy.
So I called the next day and told the girl at the front desk my concerns with the receipt, and that I needed to come back in to have more weight taken out. She said that the owners would call me when they came into the salon and we would figure it out - they never called me. I went in to have the cut fixed, and the hair stylist straightened my hair again to cut it more... She said that she didn't know how to cut curly hair without straightening it first and that she would not refund me the $10. My hair is a very loose definition of wavy, not even close to "curly", and I've NEVER had someone "need" to straighten my hair to cut it at any level of salon I've been to. If you don't know how to cut hair that's not stick straight, you shouldn't be charging $70. I'll be going back to my old salon where I got a way better...
Read moreMy hair needed help....BAD. So bad, that it took me trying 4 different hair salons to get my hair corrected and looking healthy and beautiful again. I was recommended to Salon Modello (which is a block from where I live - score!) by two friends that raved about it. I don't know why I hadn't gone sooner. I had a consult before and immediately knew I was in better hands. They listened carefully, examined my current state, and made very prescriptive recommendations for correction. I went to see Heather who is new to the salon and Atlanta but long in experience and she singlehandedly restored my faith in a GREAT hair salon. Through much thought, managing proper expectations, and her expertise, my hair looks SO shiny and healthy and the color is perfection. It's obvious Heather is so passionate about hair and people. She was so personable and engaging - but overall, she was like a HairDR. I have desperately begged hairstylists that were recommended to me through NextDoor (prior to Salon Modello) to please fix my hair. Only to be met with those people making my hair worse and the color was literally, unbelievable. One big lesson I learned is that there's a benefit of going to a salon that is a true salon (not a hairstylist that rents their booth - no disrespect) since there is regulation required especially when you're dealing with chemicals that go on your scalp. In Salon Modello's case, they require proper certification and provide ongoing training. In my case, I went to people prior to going to Salon Modello - where I was looking for someone who was a true Balayage expert. Turns out that unless they went to school for Balayage and got certified in it, you could be getting application from someone who learned on YouTube and has a lot of Instagram followers from touting themselves as a Balayage expert. No bueno. Completely destroyed my hair. It's been a long journey to get here but I'm so glad I went to...
Read moreI don't really leave bad reviews but I will from now on. The first haircut I got from "ANDRE" was great and I got charged only for the haircut. The second time I visited with ANDRE I got a haircut and "highlights" to light up my dark hair. I showed him a picture of how I wanted my hair to look like. I was very CLEAR with him about NOT wanting any red hair. I did noticed on this 2nd visit that he was much slower than the first time in terms of cutting and drying my hair. He also made a mistake with my highlights and told me he needed to redo them again so now this visit is taking hours upon hours seating at the salon. Long story short the next next day my hair looks RED and after I requested a copy of my receipt I noticed I got charged $60 for "EXTRA TIME" because it took him "longer" to dry & cut my hair this time, but he didnt charge for the "extra time" the 1st visit?? Yea ANDRE made sure he took his time with me on this 2nd visit .... I also got charged "extra time" for his mistake redoing my highlights again!!! WTH?! He NEVER told me I was being charged extra time, that's very unethical and sneaky! Basically he snuck the $60 in my bill knowing that he was charging me for "EXTRA TIME" to correct his own mistake. I spoke with the owners Aaron & his wife and asked them for a refund of the $60. They only agreed to refund $30 and to fix my RED hair. I have NEVER been charged for "extra time" at any of the hair salons in Buckhead where I used to live. They don't tell you upfront there's an "extra time" fee if your service takes "longer" either. ANDRE NEVER called me to apologized for his hair color mistake and unethical attitude. Very unprofessional. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SALON MODELLO. Always review your receipt before you leave the salon. STAY AWAY...
