The Mix is an actively hostile place to live. The staff operate with a high school mentality, prioritizing looking cool and chill over doing their jobs. It was rare to find someone willing to break this pattern by actually helping residents. Many of the staff rolled their eyes, made snide remarks, or treated me like I was a child, rather than a paying tenant. Anything they did—like Taco Tuesdays with a Taco Bell party pack—was treated like a gift we should feel grateful for, rather than a bare-minimum attempt to distract from their incompetence.
Communication about critical issues was either nonexistent or poorly handled. Major disruptions like elevator outages, water shutoffs, and internet failures were rarely announced, even if it was a planned disruption, leaving residents confused and inconvenienced. When they did communicate, it was often to blame residents for issues rather than offering solutions. There was a time when towing a car would have allowed us to access our trash chute versus stacking a week’s worth of trash in the hallway. I flagged a humidity problem with actual gauge readings to help them avoid mold-caused structural issues. They ignored it entirely, as if I was being overly dramatic instead of trying to prevent health hazards. Look at the other reviews. There’s a black mold issue now.
The package room situation was similarly absurd. Instead of improving security, they locked packages in the front office and restricted access outside office hours. When I tried to pick up a package as instructed, I was treated rudely and told, “You can’t just barge into the package room,” even though I followed their directions. After my verbal confirmation that I was looking for a single package, the employee left without helping further—because she was busy chatting with a coworker.
Elevator outages became so common that I started tracking them out of sheer frustration. Only 36% of the time did all three elevators function at once. Waiting for the one working elevator often took five minutes or more, and several times, all the elevators were out, forcing me to take 18 flights of stairs. For a 26-floor building, having just three unreliable elevators is ridiculous. One elevator frequently malfunctioned with faulty buttons that wouldn’t take you to the correct floor, and the stairwells were often locked, adding another layer of inconvenience and safety risk.
When the garage doors were left open for a week, a homeless person began living in our garage and management did nothing. There was, however, once a security guard outside the garage to check inside our cars and see if we were bringing guests into the facility cos they refused to do their job and find the one apartment that kept hosting illegal parties.
Public areas were filthy. I witnessed vomit, blood, and even feces left in hallways for extended periods, hardening into the floor because no one cleaned it. Meanwhile, management had the budget for pointless renovations that no one asked for, but couldn’t keep basic amenities functional or ensure the safety and cleanliness of shared spaces.
Living at The Mix is not just inconvenient—it’s a surreal experience, like being trapped in a poorly run high school. Staff would rather act cool than do their jobs, critical services like elevators are a joke, and basic hygiene is ignored. I would never recommend this building to anyone. Unless you enjoy waiting for elevators that may or may not work, dealing with trash in your hallways, and being treated like an inconvenience by the staff, stay far away. If you do choose to live here, be prepared for mold, broken elevators, and a complete lack of accountability.

Read moreI lived here for three years. It’s a mix of good and bad. Day to day it's fine, but issues come up often enough that I wouldn’t recommend it.
A lot of the high reviews are from people who toured, but haven’t lived here. So take the overall rating with a grain of salt.
Cons:
High rent. For example, one room in a four-bed is $1,100-$1,300 a month. You can split a two bed for that price anywhere else in the city. Also, parking is an additional $200-$250 a month, which is 4-5x higher than anywhere else in the city.
Limited hours for amenities. They set "closing hours" on amenities like the pool, clubhouse, and gym. Personally, I don't like paying for amenities and not having full access to them.
Restrictions on visitors. Management recently started instructing security to not let any resident have more than three guests at a time. This is not in the lease, so I'm not sure it's enforceable. But depending on the security team on shift, they will try to enforce it.
Difficult management. I've been overcharged due to clerical errors, had them try to charge me and my roommates for fixing a pre-existing roach problem, and they charge everyone repair fees upon exiting despite keeping the security deposit. They also charge full price for August rent despite the move-in date being halfway through the month. And the number they provide here in the reviews is a general help line that they don’t often respond to.
There aren’t enough elevators. There are 3 for the 26-floor building and 1 or 2 are usually down.
The walls are thin, so privacy can be an issue.
Maintenance can be hit or miss. I’ve had issues go unresolved and the maintenance team report otherwise. They seem understaffed.
It’s downtown, so crime can be an issue. There’s unfortunately usually at least one shooting a year where someone ends up dead. That’s not the Mix’s fault of course. But if you’re living in this area, you do need to keep your eyes open.
Pros:
If you're a GSU student, it's better than the dorms. It’s close to GSU, secure, and you get your own room and bathroom.
The apartments are spacious, get good sunlight, have nice kitchens, and each has a washer and dryer. The views on the mid to high floors are great, especially if your apartment faces east.
The front office staff is usually friendly and helpful. Staff members have come and gone but their quality there is consistent.
Their communication isn’t great, but it’s gotten better. In the past they rarely if ever answered the phone. That’s improved recently. Still, the best way to get in contact with them is showing up at the front office and waiting your turn.
Security is ok. It depends on who's on shift. Some guards don't care at all and some go way too hard. From the front door of the building to your room there are 4-5 points where you need a fob or a key. Although for most of the fob checkpoints, it’s not hard for someone to follow behind a resident. There’s usually a guard or two at the front desk and they occasionally check the floors.
The gym equipment could use some maintenance, but is...
Read moreDO NOT LIVE HERE! Unless you want ROACHES, HORRIFIC management, or want to be stuck out of your apartment for hours because the elevators do not work. We had a roach situation that lasted 6 weeks at least. The first time we went down to resolve the issue, we were told we were on a list and we were never put on that list. Then management blamed us for their misdoing. The staff was VERY RUDE when addressing the problem. I had sent an email to the general manager explaining I wanted it resolved the next day and she responded with “who told you that would happen.” Clearly not taking the time to read my emails. It was only after I BROUGHT THE ROACHES DOWN IN A BAG that they finally took care of the issue. Devin S and the man pictured were the two who assured us we would have exterminators and when we confronted them about them not coming they were condescending and unprofessional. Conducting themselves in a manner that was never addressed by management or corrected. During and after the incident no compensation or apologies were given. We also had an issue where our washer was not working for WEEKS. No compensation or offers to wash our clothes in another way. When we finally threaten action they went to fix the washer and left our apartment a mess for hours. They said they would come back and fix it (they never did), so we had to make demands a second time. To which a staff member came and talked down to us saying “I want to make sure yall still aren’t getting upset over nothing.” All maintenance workers were extremely nice however. Requests for maintenance were never completed within a reasonable amount of time. Speaks more on the terrible management than the workers. The elevators would continuously break down and you cannot climb the stairs to get to your apartment unless someone is on your floor. Leaving me stranded multiple times in the elevator lobby for HOURS. Billing was another issue where it was a fight to get the proper answer to conservice and the move out prices were astronomically high. During move out no one walked your apartment with you to address any matters to fix, so don’t expect any of your security deposit back. The paint on the walls comes off so easily with a 80-90 dollar fee to cover. My carpets were never cleaned before I moved in however I was charged for that when I was moving out. I had multiple issues with my mailbox as well. Never got a mailbox key and was told I needed to pay for one. I did not do that instead I always had them open it for me. Multiple occasions they would lie and be “unable to open my box” but the same day I would ask a different staff member and it opened just fine. I was then told to take all the mail in the box and return the mail that was not mine. So, very unprofessional and really a crime when you think about it. If you are a college aged resident, they do not treat you with respect unless you have your parents call. Would NEVER suggest this place to ANYONE. I hope the management changes so that other residents can have a...
