I placed a custom framing order with Julian on December 7th, 2022 that was scheduled to be complete on December 19th, in plenty of time to have it by Christmas. Julian was great. I retained my artwork on the day I placed the order, and I think that is where the confusion began. On December 12th, I returned to the store with my art and left it in the care of a different framer, whose name I didn't catch. I left the store feeling confident that the framer would put my art away safely and that the order would be completed on schedule.
My December 19th due date came and went without a phone call from Michael's saying that my order was ready for pick-up, so I stopped by the store only to learn that some of the materials for my order had come in damaged and needed to be reordered. I was a little irritated that no one had notified me that my order would not be completed before Christmas, but it wasn't really a big deal at that point. My recipient would just have to receive their gift late.
So, the holidays are over and it's still crickets from Michael's. No word. No communication of any kind. I decided to go back to the store - again - to see what was going on. When I got there, I learned that not only was my order STILL not complete....
The frame shop had lost my artwork. An original drawing of my cousin's dogs that I had commissioned from the artist back in October with the intention of giving it to my cousin for Christmas! I don't mean "oopsie, I must have set something on top of it!" I mean LOST lost. At least three different people turned that frame shop upside down and my art was NOWHERE. I don't know if it was stolen. I don't know if it was damaged and a framer tried to cover it up. I don't know if it is still in a cardboard sleeve in some crevice in the frame shop.
All I know for sure is that my beautiful, one of a kind art piece that I put a lot of thought and money into is not hanging framed on my cousin's wall right now like it should be. And I am pretty effing steamed about it.
Did Michael's make it right? Sure, I guess they did, to the best of their ability. They refunded the cost of my framing and what I paid for the art piece. But a refund can't return my art to me, or change the fact that my very special Christmas gift plans...

Read moreSorry this rating came 3 days late but that brings me to my point on why I came here. I recently just lost a close friend and co worker. I was running around trying to find different items for the memorial service. I’ve never been to Michael’s ever. But something told me to just stop and see. When I walked in I was greeted with hospitality. I didn’t even make it all the way in the store before one of the ladies (I wish I would have gotten her name)approached me to ask if I need help with anything. Although she was unable to answer my question, she directed me to this Gift of God by the name of emery. Chiiiile let me tell you, I asked the question and she took my cart and baybee did allllll of my shopping for me, which was amazing because I have major back issues. Not only that but she gave her excellent creative ideas for what I was trying to accomplish. The fact that she had me stoked for the funeral to show what “we” came up with is wild 🤣🤣 who does that? I’m suppose to be sad and distraught. But not at this Michael’s in the aurora mall parking lot. I will go to this location for all of my creative needs. If they don’t have it I’ll check Amazon or just wait. The only way that I will not come back to this location is if the staff changes. I know for sure I wanna see Ms Emery, the young one at the register with the different color hair and the other ladies. They gave me a sense of belonging and I love that for me. I think they should be recognized for their efforts. They should not go unnoticed. And not just this rating as the recognition, but really awarded. Yes it’s their job. But anyone can get hired for the most part. Not everyone can make you feel like family. If I could give 10 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would. Amazing...
