I attended church at San Jose when Father Tom Frank was there. That tells you it was many years ago. While Father Tom was there, I really enjoyed going to Mass there. I moved out of town and recently moved back to Austin. My husband and I attended Mass there in hopes that it would still be a beautiful church to attend. We were so disappointed at the how things have changed. I totally understand that we are in times of Covid. I know that some people still still precautions. The priest there seems to be so overly fearful. Which in a sense I understand but being a Catholic doesn't fear come from evil? Isn't that what the Devil wants, for us to be fearful? The priest will refuse communion in the mouth and he will clearly let you know. They make sure they announce that communion will be taken only on the hands. I've seen these announcements on the bulletin, TV screen inside the church and by his own words as he's slapping his hands together. I felt like it was a kid again and my parents were getting onto me about something. In some of his Homily"s I also feel as if he goes against the Catholic faith. I recently started going to visit the sacrament. I must say that I really enjoyed it the last days that I have been going. I attended today and they had a person passing out wipes so that we can clean where we were sitting. Wouldn't be so bad if the man wasn't making so much noise by talking to others to clean up and sign in, opening bags and making noise, and getting stuff out of his bag. I was hoping that I could get some time with the Lord but I could not focus with all this going on. I barely finished my Rosary and had to leave. I was just getting good vibes. With this being said, I'm sure this was the last time I will attend San Jose. I normally don't write reviews and hate to be so negative about it but I just find it so sad that San Jose is the way it is now. I hope that things will change...
Read moreThe church is beautiful and very welcoming. We are in preparation of having our son baptized soon and had a great experience with our Baptism teacher, Nathan who by the end of the class became both an inspiration in faith and a great friend and fellow parishioner. My only recommendation is the relay of information regarding church ceremonies be better organized. We went back and forth a few times trying to get paperwork together, signatures, etc which would have been less time consuming and stressful if we had all the detailed information up front from one main person versus some information online, a piece of information from...
Read moreThis has been my regular place to worship God; I've attended mass at San Jose for about 9 years. I started worshipping here after completely leaving the church; I wasn't interested in this kind of stuff. I since have gained a true understanding of what it means to be Catholic. I have married here, my kids have received their sacrements here, and I've celebrated 2 family members' funeral masses here. I am always in aww with San Jose: from the staff to the volunteers and regular parishioners here. Everyone I encounter is on a mission to help you get closer to God and get to Heaven. This...
