We had high hopes for Little Mexico Restaurant, but unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to expectations. The service was slow from the start, and we were seated in the back of the building—far from the lively front area where there was music, dancing, and what seemed like a great time. Instead, we were in a quiet, empty section that felt a bit forgotten.
The food itself was lukewarm and tasted like it came straight from a can—especially the queso, which lacked any freshness or flavor. We ordered fajitas for one, added a queso, and ended up with a $60 bill for two people. Definitely not worth it for what we received.
What really caught us off guard was the drink situation. My wife was offered a refill on her Sprite, and they brought another can—but didn’t mention it wasn’t complimentary. At $3 per can, we ended up paying $6 for two canned sodas without warning. That felt a bit sneaky.
Overall, it felt overpriced and underwhelming. Nothing tasted fresh or homemade, and the vibe was off. Sadly, we won’t...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Little Mexican restaurant, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. Tucked away in a cozy corner of town, this hidden gem took me on a culinary journey through the vibrant flavors of Mexico.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The colorful décor, traditional Mexican artwork, and lively music transported me to the heart of Mexico itself. The friendly staff made me feel right at home, providing attentive and knowledgeable service throughout my meal.

I started with the classic guacamole and chips, and it was absolutely divine. The guacamole was freshly made, bursting with flavors of ripe avocados, tangy lime, and a hint of jalapeño heat. The chips were crispy and had just the right...
Read moreLittle Mexico is that classic Mexican place you think of when you think of your home town (if your hometown isn't Austin, of course). It's like they turned a cute little house in to a restaurant. There was plenty of seating for our breakfast and the server was very friendly.
We got the Huevos Rancheros and Machacado con Huevo. For the low points... I'm a fan of crispy potatoes at Mexican places. Unfortunately, the potatoes were a little undercooked so a bit crunchy. The ranchero sauce had good flavor but was a tad watery for my taste.
Now the high points... Some places have beans that you can drink, but I really like the thicker/chunkier beans here. We also both the red and green salsas which had a good kick. But the true star was the machacado con huevo. The meat to egg to veggie ratio was spot-on. It really made for a great taco when thrown on a tortilla.
I look forward to coming back and trying some of their recommended...
