Not quite what I was expecting as a Brunch Tour of Austin. Thought it would be visiting the great brunch offers available in the city...but it was not. The bus was good, band was good, people were nice. Theme seemed to be more around "how drunk you going to get today?", which seemed odd as they didn't serve drinks on the bus (Not even Coffee) and only one small drink at each of the three stops. None of the three stops were breakfast brunch stops or served coffee as part of the package. First was a distillery, where you were given one breakfast corn tortilla, made elsewhere, cool and damp. Second up, a coffee shop, where they served half an egg sandwich on a hamburger bun, again cool and prepared elsewhere (no coffee offered again, you could go stand in line and pay extra if you wanted coffee.) Finally a cider brewery, where you had your one glass of cider and Chicken and Waffles, which was a pretty generous definition for what it was. A very small (picture an Eggo, cut into quarters...you got a quarter) a cut piece of a chicken strip and what could best be described as a McDonalds Hash Brown. We bowed out at the last stop, skipping the party bus ride back to where we had parked. Took an uber to "24 Hour Diner" on Lamar and for $50 (two people) had phenomenal waffles, eggs, grits, drinks....and yes...Coffee!
I am usually very positive in my reviews and if what you are after is an expensive ($125 PP) party bus vibe (bring your own booze) and relatively anemic and poorly prepared breakfast snacks, then this is the the trip for...
Read moreTwisted Texas tours was an absolute BLAST! My partner and I joined the Sunday brunch crew and our expectations were blown away. The band, tour guide and bus driver were all so incredibly friendly, fun and talented. The bus has instructions where guests can request songs and the band will play those songs as we moved from place to place. We stopped at 3 places and the tour cost covers 1 drink and 1 food item at each place. The drinks and food items are preset but guests can order whatever they want additional on their own. We stopped at 3 super cool spots - Freddo’s off SoCo, Still, and EastCiders in East Austin. It was such a cool way to see the different parts of Austin.
I had considered doing a different tour for less money but the more I researched, the more I felt that the Twisted Texas tour would be worth it - and I am happy to confirm that I was right!!! For the price and all that you get, it’s an incredible value and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my morning and my money! If you are in Austin - even for a short weekend - this is a MUST DO! It does not take up more than a few hours and you get to hear a great live band, meet new people, and learn a little about Austin TX food and drink scene.
Highly highly recommend and really appreciate Twisted Texas tours for having such a cool idea and executing it flawlessly. No complaints at all and really look forward to the next tour...
Read moreFor our group of 14 ages 22-83 this was the highlight of our whole trip. We did the Sunday brunch tour from 10:00-1:00. The whole experience was seamless. The online waiver form is easy for everyone to do in advance. The check in is outside the convention center and was really easy. Mark the driver was great. Amber was fantastic she was so much fun and kind to everyone even when we were being slow. You can bring your own drinks on the bus to enjoy between stops (no hard alcohol so no tequila for me)
We boarded the bus and there is a live band playing. They were really good and it was not overly too loud. They took requests and played songs that kept the group engaged and singing together.
There were 4 birthdays including mine they made it extra special for us with birthday sashes.
There were 3 stops a little outside the main parts of the city that tourists go to. The crew gets us all settled at every location. Brings us drinks and one unique food from each stop. All of that is included in the price. All the drinks and the meals were great! They had seating set aside for all of us. The places they brought us too were all great!! Would have been hard to find on our own as they are popular local places.
Highly highly recommend. My grandma at 83 was nervous about coming but she was so happy and enjoyed the...
