Transition Sports — Local services in Avon

Looked here from a recommendation from a close friend. Girlfriend and I just moved to the valley, extremely excited to ski/board our first time.

Overall, staff were super friendly and helpful. The reason for 2 stars comes from issues a couple days later after dropping well over 1700 dollars on about half of our gear.

The boots we ended up going with, didn't fit my girlfriends bindings on the skis. We didn't find out about this until a few days later when we were getting them waxed. Another 250 dollars. Not a huge deal, small mistake.

This problem came because the staff didn't recognize the compatibility, and we were still fairly new, and trusted their words and recommendation.

We weren't looking for a refund on skis, I would have spent more money in the store had they did an in store credit, or a discount on something else as an apology, but I'm told we will only get a refund, if they can sell the old bindings. The whole conversation and seemingly blow off we got was ridiculous. Felt completely taken advantage of, and will avoid this place...

This place is amazing!!! My boyfriend and I are working in Vail for the season and looked to Transtitions for our gear. My boyfriend went the used route and I went the new route.

I purchased EVERYTHING except my jacket and I couldn’t be happier. They are so knowledgeable and patient with the customers so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed at all.

You know this place is amazing when the owner will get down and help you find the things that you need. Stafford is awesome and Jim is pretty dope too. I didn’t get the other guys name BUT he has glasses and he’s amazing as well ☺️🙃 I guess long story short... skip the hassle and go to a place that treats you like family and also knows what they are doing!

My experience with Transitions was overall a really solid one being a newer local to the area. I got fitted and geared up to the nth degree with the perfect gear after 15 years of using outdated old equipment. Ralph was fantastic in his eye for what I was looking for in a snowboard. He was very attentive, friendly and thorough with the process of finding just the right fit and I could not have asked for better help on the sales floor. I had some issues with boots and the staff at Transitions was beyond helpful to get me feeling good and confident with my choice. Stafford was very communicative in our interactions and helped me to feel solid about my purchase and investment with Transitions. Thanks again! I am a “new” and improved rider...
