Being held during Columbus day weekend every year it's a wonderful place to visit, but be prepared for traffic and tons of people since this is a small town having a big festival in the city square. Those people low rating it because of the traffic should take that into consideration. We have been going yearly, with the exception of 2020 and 2021. Watching them make apple butter right there in the park, a section for beer and wine tasting, a food truck area and my favorite Wild Bills beverage truck, where you can buy a mug and then drink for free all day (too bad it's only soda,lol).    Read moreFirst trip to Berkeley Springs, WV, and we accidentally learned of the Apple Butter Festival. We were excited to go but had no idea the extent of the traffic and parking issues. Arriving around noon, we were trapped in traffic and could not find a parking spot anywhere. When we considered going to the Senior Center to take the tram, we were at the opposite end of town and realized it would take forever to get there and we would again be trapped in traffic coming back into town. Nearly impossible to walk on the sidewalks, no traffic management whatsoever, pedestrians who are clueless about traffic rules and obeying crossing signs and sidewalks, limited parking, etc, etc. The quality of the vendors leaves quite a bit to be desired, and it would be wonderful if there was a better way to select the vendors as well as their locations. We've come to the festival for many, many years. It has become more stressful than enjoyable. We'll find another...
