The intention for this review is to not only highlight my experience but I’m hopeful that it can be a learning opportunity for this establishment, director and team.
I’m new to Texas, but I am no stranger to being serviced at local cosmetology schools. I say this to say that I 100% aware of the model and understand the expectations. Prior to booking, I called and asked specifically if this establishment serviced all hair types, specifically my type 4 a&b hair. The representative excitedly explained that all stylists are trained forALL hair types even explaining they have recently added silk press to the menu of services provided. I went ahead and booked a haircut shampoo and blow out. I arrived to my appointment at 930. The student was nice but clearly uncomfortable. Instructors came over every once in a while but they were mostly off to the side socializing, not at all standing with student as advised in booking or sign that’s on counter. Student gets me to wash bowl, washing my hair, the water is not even penetrating my scalp. He calls an instructor over. She shows him the way then walks off back to socialize. After we go to detangle and blow dry. The school doesn’t even have wide tooth combs!? How do you service all hair types but not properly equipped. Anyways i ended up helping him separate my hair. Instructor the. Comes over and says i cant help him so she helped. She noticed my scalp was not clean so took me back to bowl to re wash. Student tried to see if someone else could finish. We get back to chair to blow dry, student is barely touching my hair, visibly uncomfortable, barely touching my hair as if he was scared to touch it. People walking by just looking and ultimately i felt it was best to take us both out of our misery and left. hair incomplete, and still wet. Instructor came by help him take clips out and i noticed she wrote client had to leave but no, I didn’t HAVE to leave, i just was not willing to sit there for another second. 2 hours had passed already.student was not being properly instructed. He’s clearly struggling why not step in take over? Why make the customer suffer? This is a school and should’ve been a learning opportunity I have a lot of hair but I’m not Rapunzel! the fact that a basic hair wash and blow dry couldn’t be accomplished is quite literally sad and pathetic and says alot for your lack of inclusivity. Be honest about your scope of business and target audience. A lot of time was wasted today.
My sentiments remain the same. This is a cosmetology school, how long my hair is shouldn’t matter, I’m no Pocahontas.i also detangled my hair before i arrived. If anything it was getting more tangled by the student. There were no wide tooth combs. Student had to borrow one from another student otherwise instructor Tiffany was going to go to her car and get one of hers. It doesn’t matter if he was “afraid of hurting me” or not. If the student was unable to service me, someone should have stepped in bottom line. 2hrs for a simple wash and blow dry is unacceptable and given the clear uncomfortableness of both myself and the student. I was still paying for a service and should’ve been taken out of my misery of sitting there made to look like a spectacle while everyone stared at the struggle. I didn’t want to be rude or make the student feel bad but we all knew why i was leaving with 3quarters of my head wet. The instructor should have stepped in and TAUGHT the student and gotten me out of the chair. PERIOD. You all are not equipped for all hair types and that’s ok. Accountability & integrity is the only acceptable response...
Read moreI'm a man and this place took care of me. I bought two services. And I bought them from Groupon (an app for great deals). Beard cutting is normally $5 and haircuts with a wash are $12.
You can only use one Groupon per day and they are extremely firm with that, I learned the hard way, but the prices were so great that it was not hard to pivot.
Services by their students are by appointment only and If you book more than one service, make sure that the person confirms this as they are firm on their policies.
You do have to sign a waiver saying that they are learning but there is an instructor who definitely watches over and will walk up and help the students.
The environment looks like a regular barbershop, and if you didn't know you were in a school, you wouldn't know.
I'm a happy customer, and I would show you but I don't want to doxx my identity. So you'll just have to take my word for it.
The students do accept tips, and I'm sure that they don't make wages so tips are important as they are students.
They have a restroom and free wifi and ample parking.
This is feedback to the school itself. Your policies on one Groupon per day could be made a little more clear. Your website is very cluttered, there should be a link for students, and a link for customers, I just want to see things from a customer's perspective and it was a lot to go through.
But overall, it was a great experience...
Read moreHonestly, the friendships I created here were Amazing, but that was pretty much it! In the 11ish months that I went to school here It had zero consistency and accountability. I am not writing this review to speak ill mannered on the school, but rather to write an honest review because spending $13k on your education is an investment. I would have liked to know all this stuff prior to going here. The turnover rate in teachers is absolutely insane, the teachers speak ill mannered to and about their students and it’s very unprofessional. They refuse to teach Brazilians and honestly all together they are unprepared the school is falling apart. There is never enough supplies for anything. The rules change all the time and are applied out of nowhere and to certain people (unless you’re one of the admins favorite). I personally was yelled at and told to “Shut my mouth” by the Connie director herself when I asked about the rules and threatened to be expelled. Some of the teachers are amazing it’s a shame that they don’t stay for long. But on the bright side pay for your state board exam. This would be an amazing school if they were open minded and it didn’t feel like they were more focused on pushing services rather then their students education, have...
