I went to this store on Central Drive sometime between 12 and 1 pm on 12/14/22. I needed to get copies of my IDs notarized. First off, the person I talked to refused to make copies of my IDs, and then he kept telling me he wouldn't sign anything saying something about Texas Law wouldn't allow him to sign anything, and kept talking about some letter I needed and which I later found out was the True Copy Affidavit.
Here's the ACTUAL Texas Notary Laws:
6- Certifying Copies
Texas notaries are allowed to certify copies of original documents as true copies. The duty of a notary in this instance is to personally make a photocopy of an original unaltered document and certify that the copy is a true copy. A Texas notary CANNOT certify a copy of a public record or a publicly recorded document. That is, a Texas notary cannot certify a copy of an original if certified copies can be requested from a government agency or other institution that issues certified copies of official documents. For example, a notary can never certify copies of birth certificates, marriage licenses, divorce records, school transcripts, tax returns, deeds, mortgages, or any other document that is in government custody or that has been recorded in the public records.
A Texas notary public can perform these five authorized duties through both traditional notarizations and online notarizations. However, a Texas notary is prohibited from:
Issuing an identification card Helping to prepare legal documents Advertising as a “notario publico” Assisting with immigration matters Giving legal advice or accepting fees for legal advice if not licensed to practice law in Texas Signing documents using a name other than the name in which he or she was commissioned
You see the part where it says "The duty of a notary in this instance is to personally make a photocopy of an original unaltered document and certify that the copy is a true copy"? So first off, him telling me what Texas Law is is giving legal advice that is false. He COULD have made copies of my IDs and signed the True Copy Affidavit. So he didn't make copies of my IDs, he wouldn't notarized the photocopies, even though that's what it says to do on the IRS website, he would not provide me with a True Copy Affidavit, he would not help me at all. But for some reason when I went to the UPS store on highway 26, the person there made copies of my IDs, got a True Copy Affidavit out and helped me get my identifications notarized so that I can submit the to the IRS website and verify my identity and receive a Paid Tax preparer Identification Number (PTIN).
I'm not a notary, so tell me why I had to go to a bank and then another ups store to get the same thing done at that store? How would you expect someone that's not a notary to know about the True Copy Affidavit? The notary is the one that is supposed to know how to notarize things and tell me what I need to do, and that is exactly what happened at the store...
Read moreIn January I sent a package to Canada. There was only one employee working the Saturday I shipped it. He was not trained very well and had never done an international package. I thought it was wrong of his management to leave him alone when he was obviously new, but we managed to get my package sent. My friend got her package so I didn't think more of it...till she told me today she was reviving bills for the package. I called the store to ask why and the man who answered, who did not give his name, was extremely rude and asked ME why my friend was getting a bill. I told him that's why I was calling, which I had already explained twice. He then said he needed to call me back because he was busy... I gave him my name, number, and hung up and called corporate. Their system was a headache to get through and when I finally reached someone they told me I had to call billing in Canada... So I did. The woman said the customs forms had been filed out as 4 notebooks $50 EACH instead of $50 for the PACKAGE. They were billing for nearly $80 because of it. Thankfully the woman in Canada fixed it, however THIS location has yet to call back. This UPS obviously needs more training, both in procedures and customer service. I will not be returning to this location nor recommending their...
Read moreI received an order from Amazon that was incorrect. UPS was supposed to pick up the order the next day. They never called or came by. 5 days later I came to the ups store to drop off the box. They said they couldn't use my tracking number and I had to call Amazon to change the return n send me a label. After getting a new email label This ups Store said he couldn't use the label on my phone he needed to email it to the store and print it. Which I found weird never have I had to do that. Then after it was emailed he then said he had to charge me $1 to print a label... excuse me? I ship ALOT of things and never have i heard this. Its not the cost its the fact that as a customer I placed an order. Incase sent the wrong item and Amazon did everything smoothly on their end and ups has been so annoying and then having been charged to print a label is crazy to me. Which is NOT A UPS policy it is a store policy. This is simply poor customer service to charge for printing a label on regular paper...it wasn't even sticky paper lol it was a regular sheet of paper that would need be taped on the box. I actually lowered the star rating. The agents in the store were perfect. The store policy which makes things difficult for the customer is trash. Stop nickle and...
