I had an unexpectedly unpleasant experience at this home decor store. My husband and I had some time before our dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant, so we decided to explore the area and check out some shops for Thanksgiving deals. We walked into this store, and my husband noticed a blanket in a basket. It looked warm and felt nice to the touch. Since all the items were displayed without packaging or "Do Not Touch" signs, we assumed it was okay to look closer. Curious about the material and brand, I checked the label.
At that moment, the store owner abruptly mentioned the blanket’s price and emphasized that it was the same as the online store. This surprised us because we didn’t know the brand or that it had an online store. Naturally, her comment sparked my curiosity. I decided to check online for more information—after all, holiday discounts are common, and I wanted to compare.
To my shock, the owner stormed over, pointed at me, and loudly accused us of being "rude" for looking up her products online. Her exact words were, "I know what you are doing, you are searching the product that is sold in my store, this is rude."
I was baffled by her reaction. First, she had proactively mentioned the online price, which led me to verify it. Second, price comparison during the holiday season is completely normal! Ironically, the website offered a signup discount of up to 80%, which made her reaction seem even more defensive and unnecessary.
As customers, we felt disrespected. Instead of treating us with hospitality or professionalism, the owner jumped to conclusions and accused us of behavior that isn’t inappropriate. This left a negative impression and ruined what could have been a pleasant...
Read moreLovely store itself, but not so lovely service. I saw a few items I liked from outside and stopped in the store. There were three colors of the item and the associate thought it was necessary to explain to me that there were three different colors (did I look like I didn't have any eyes?) Then, due to the imperfect and unique nature of the item, and because I was buying them as gifts, I was picking through to find the best of each, and the associate proceeded to tell me that due to the price point, it wasn't the high end quality of similar items at the shop next door and not to expect what I'd get spending 4-5 times at the other shop. AS IF THAT WEREN'T OBVIOUS. I still have a right as a consumer to pick out which one I liked best and didn't need her looking over my shoulder and making thoughtless comments. I have never come across such rude and condescending service. Again, lovely store, but I would not shop...
Read moreOur winery participated in Old Bellevue Wine Walk yesterday. I’m reviewing Veritables from a business perspective. My initial introduction to the staff was incredible. Everything was setup for us in their garden space behind the store. They were very anxious to help us in any way. The owner was actively involved in encouraging people to try the wines. It was obvious that she has a devoted customer base. Our winery has been doing wine walks for many years. Veritables is our new...
