I cannot say enough about how wonderful Home Depot in Berlin, New Jersey is. We just moved to south Jersey and are completely renovating a home. We have needed something from every department in this store. We have only ever been met with a smiling face and affable personality and I wanted to take a moment to thank a few individuals that have made myself or my family feel welcomed and provided extraordinary service in one way or another.
JERRY * from lumber was one of my first interactions at this location and he immediately jumped into conversation with me, making sure I had everything I needed, and really took the time to connect with me right off the bat. These interactions have continued everytime I come into this store, from remembering my name, what project I'm working on, or waving from across the store when he's helping another customer but sees me in the distance. Jerry is a 10/10 employee. FRANCIS* is my favorite cashier that also shares the same affable personality as Jerry, is so easy to talk to, and makes my husband and I feel so appreciated everytime we interact with him. A fellow military vet, he really connected with our family. He is a genuinely kind soul and your store wouldn't be the same without him. ROB Aka Uncle Rob, is what my kids call him, in the paint department. Talk about someone who remembers everything about your last conversation and picks up right where you left off the next time he sees you! It was no wonder my kids latched on to him right away. He is so kind, and is genuinely invested in not only the projects we're completing, asking to see photos, but in my personal goals and aspirations. He's my own personal Home Depot cheerleader as I'm applying to medical school in the next few years! Thanks for the genuine connection Rob! ETHAN & JOHN from flooring spent days helping me with an issue on our flooring order and were so kind, patient, and personable. I came into the store one time to check-in and found Ethan on hold trying to find a solution to my issue. The timing was perfect and it shows that even when the customer isn't present, they are actively working on your behalf at the Berlin location! XIOMARA is an angel woman in customer service that makes me feel special every time she sees me. Between the sweet "hello, how are you!?", everytime I walk in, even when I'm not paying attention, to her bubbly personality that immediately puts me in a better mood, we LOVE her!!
Home Depot, Berlin, you really know how to hire them! Truly the BEST team I've seen in one location in a LONG time. As a military spouse who travels the world and renovates every home she lives in, AND whose favorite store IS Home Depot, I've been to a lot of locations, and I've interacted with a lot of employees. Hands down, YOU'RE...
Read moreJust the worst curbside pick up experience I’ve ever had. Went to the Berlin location to pick up an AC unit I ordered. I had to drive a half hour away to get the item because it was the only location in the area that had it. I was told my order was ready through email, so me and my wife strapped the kids in the car for what we thought would be a quick pickup. We notified them we were on our way through the app and what spot we were in when we arrived. After almost thirty minutes waiting with no indication anyone was coming (and several other angry people in the lot waiting as well) and the kids starting to scream and become restless, I finally went inside where I was told that my order was not actually pulled yet. From there, I was forced to wait another fifteen minutes for the item to be pulled. Ten minutes into waiting inside, a woman came up and asked me if the young man who went to retrieve my item had told me he was pulling it down. I said no, I hadn’t been notified of anything since he ran off to go get it. I told the woman that I was upset at the delay because I was notified the order was ready, and that I’d been in the parking lot waiting for a half hour. She said “nothing came through” on her end and I said well, i did my part and had been made to wait with no real assurance that they even actually had the thing. She said that I “should have called and told them I was here” because “sometimes we don’t get the message you’ve arrived”. I told her that this seems like a bad system, and asked her how I was supposed to know that I should call them in the parking lot when I’ve told them I’ve arrived. I said that Unless the app tells you “hey, our system and our employees are inept so you better call when you’re here to make sure we’re doing our job” that there’s no way for a person to know they need to call for curbside pickup. She chalked it up to human error. I waited for my stuff and the young man finally returned with the item. But I wasn’t the only one having a bad time. I saw a woman walking around with two potted plants, back and forth about a dozen times while I was in there either looking for a place to pay or for some assistance and I think she might still be walking around in there idk. And another woman at the pickup counter was in the process of being told her card transaction was flagged for fraud for an item she purchased at another store and was having her contractor pick up at this location. Nobody seemed helpful, everyone seemed indifferent or clueless or both, and none of the customers seemed happy. I’ll never give my business to Home...
Read moreI've been coming to this Home Depot for the past 15 years. I never once had an issue. Staff is always smiling and eager to help. I've never had any issues before until today. I was asked by the self checkout associate to go into a cashier's Lane instead, and I was happy to do so, no problem at all. The associate at the checkout line, Harriet, is the reason why I'm leaving a negative review today.
She was busy talking to a previous customer while I rolled up into the lane. I started to take out a single item to put on the countertop and she tells me "sir! Leave everything in the cart. I will grab another cart." And I said..ok no problem.
When she brings the other card, I smile and tell her I only have a few loose items on top of my cart, the rest are big 10 big bags of insect killing granules... but before I could finish my sentence, I get " sir. I work here. I work here. I know how to do this. This is how they want me to do it so I will do it this way. I work here." And I'm literally staring at her in shock from the attitude she gave me and the demeanor she spoke to me in. You don't think I know that you work here? Do you think this is my first time at home depot? And I was only trying to make it easier for her because she was elderly so she wouldn't have to take everything out of the cart. But she repeatedly told me that "sir I work here"Â what the heck was up with that???!
She then tells me "I will put everything back into your cart when I'm done scanning". So she scanned my eight packs of light bulbs and a few other loose items that she had placed in the new cart. And after she counts the bags and scans it continues to put everything back into my original cart. And you can review the footage and see what exactly I had which could have easily fit on the countertop without having to do any of this, heck, everything would still have been okay had she not given me that awful mouthing off. Another customer came up behind me with only a single item and he saw her putting stuff from one cart to the other and looked at me just standing there leaning back on the back counter top. I'm sure he was probably thinking, "aren't you going to help her?" I did not want to touch anything else until she backed away from the cart and the items. Because if she had said one more thing to me, I would have walked out without purchasing anything. I rarely give negative reviews and always hope the best for every business, but Harriet ruined my experience today, and I'm sitting here in the parking lot scratching my head like what the hell...
