I had a very bad experience at this salon and was charged over $400 for services. When I got to the register to pay and was told the price I started shaking. What?! Worst yet ... when I left the salon, my hair looked dry and brittle, the cut was the worst I have ever had, the color was off, and I received a sloppy blow dry and no style even though I was charged for it. In fact, when I got home my nephew said to me, "I thought you were going to get your hair done." I replied that I just went to the salon and that I was so upset I didn't want to talk about it. Just shameful ... such high pricing ... I should have not paid and asked for a review from senior staff prior to settling the bill, but instead I paid and left and had to cut back on other expenses to cover the cost. I have never spent that much on my hair even though I go to high end salons in NYC and LA frequently and have even had my hair done in London, São Paulo, etc. I was so upset that I warned all of my friends to avoid this salon. I just moved on but then one day my cousin asked for me to babysit her son so that she could go to get her hair done. She went to the salon and came home crying. She was charged over $300 and her hair just looked OK. My cousin has short hair and I can't imagine why she would have been charged so much. Although I had warned her, she had unknowingly gone to the other location without realizing it was the salon of the same name - J Morgan. I am not sure if this is the MO, but it is truly unfair to charge unsuspecting customers so much for services, most especially if they are going to leave the salon looking like ... well ... like they didn't just step out of a salon. I went to this salon ONLY because of the positive reviews, so maybe an honest review will help someone make the right decision. As a practice I only leave positive reviews but I feel that in this case it would be best to be honest in order to help someone else make the right decision. For those who have had good experiences, that's great; but this is not what I...
Read moreDecided to try this salon because its location was convenient. Went twice & had the same girl. While my stylist was very nice, and the facility is impeccable (clean + offer drinks & snacks) I won’t be going back. I called to ask for a different stylist for my next appointment because I’m just not happy with my hair. There’s a weird change of color happening midway down my hair which has never occurred from getting simple partial highlights. I can only explain it as a chunk of color that’s really light almost like part of my hair was painted and made a different color than the rest. The receptionist put me on hold twice because she needed a manager to reschedule me because it was “complicated”? Then told me I’d get a call back. When I was finally called back, I was told I’d first have to come in for a consultation because I’d need to explain what my expectations were & THEN I could book an appointment for my hair. Fine, I guess? But what really got under my skin was the receptionist said the manager told her I need to understand I wouldn’t be getting anything for free. FREE? I never once even insinuated or asked for anything free. All I wanted was a different stylist and they chose to get escalate it as if I was wrong for asking for someone different. Never again. Be warned- they find it insulting if you don’t like your hairstylist and want someone different even though you’re the one...
Read moreLove the service I got at J Morgan West! I easily made an appointment for my first ever perm online and they got back to me super fast and got me in at my preferred date and time. I was scheduled with Debora this past Saturday and she was super sweet and made sure we were on the same page with what I wanted. I told her I was quite nervous since this was my first perm and I didn’t want to come out looking like ramen noodles on my head. Instead I wanted a soft curl, more like a body wave since I have very straight hair and wanted to give it some texture. She showed me the rods that would work with my hair length (white, gray, and pink) and we decided on the pink (the largest of the group) to ensue the curls weren’t too tight. She went over all of the steps of the process with me and let me know how long everything would take. She also cut my hair to clean up the back and sides and used a few different size guards (keeping it longer at first) until we got to the best length. She was an absolute gem and I really love the way that it came out! The 3 photos here show how straight and long my hair was before, what it looked like immediately after I left the salon, and what it looks like after a few days once I was able to wash, condition, and style it, and it came out exactly how I was envisioning it and I...
