THE WOOD PLACE — Local services in Big Bear Lake

Well, if you are into chainsaw wood carving then this is one place you do not want to miss. Located right on Big Bear Boulevard, “The Wood Place” has something for everyone, from 8-foot-high bears to small desk size bears. Now personally, what we loved the most was the 8–10-foot-high pumpkin scarecrow and after all, its Halloween time. We were lucky enough to speak with one of the wood carving artists and we found him delightful and willing to answer any questions we had, just a super individual. Now some might be put off by the prices on these carvings, but remember, what you are looking at are works of wood art done with a chainsaw. Even for a small bear 2-3 feet high, it might take the artist half a day or more to complete so keep that in mind when deciding if you want to make a purchase or not. I guess you can settle for a cheap foreign or machine-made bear, or you can purchase the real thing. Personally, I will take the real piece art every time. Regardless of whether you buy or not, this place is a very cool place to visit...
