I have mixed feelings about Your Day. While yes, I did get my wedding dress there, was I happy in the end? No. I had bought an “exclusive” dress that was only around for a short period of time which was absolutely gorgeous and I was so excited to have found my dress. However, when I went to try it on I realized I had been given the wrong size, a size too small. I never wanted to be the bride who tries to lose weight just for my wedding, and at this point it was about two months out so I was stressed, especially with the holidays coming up if you know what I mean! I brought up the fact that it was the wrong size and this late in the game there’s not much to do, but I was reassured that I looked great and it didn’t need changing. Looking back now I should have stuck to my guns because it was uncomfortable, limiting, and not what I ordered. I did end up just calling it fine but that’s before my wedding day, where the bustle they had done broke four times. I missed half of the reception, I spent a year planning, getting it sewn up by my coordinator, which was exceptionally frustrating and even more stressful. With all this, I loved but absolutely hated the dress and it did not make my wedding day everything I hoped it would be. Maybe I’d be less upset if we got a discount on my $2,300 dress, but we didn’t. I mean even Scheels checks to make sure you have the right shoe size, which is $2,000 cheaper than the dress that you wear on one of the most important days of your life will remember forever. Being from a completely different state I read a bunch of reviews and booked an appointment here and I had such high hopes. On the phone the ladies were so nice and had me describe what I had in mind and assured me they had plenty of dresses in those styles. They also had me send in photos of dresses that I liked and said that if they didn't have a large selection of the styles I wanted that they would pull dresses from their sister stores to make sure I had plenty to try on that day. I booked my appointment over a month in advance, and I could tell they either didn't look at my inspiration photos until the morning of my appointment, or didn't look at all, because there was maybe 2 dresses that truly fit the styles I had in mind. They store was wildly busy, which I get since it's in the mall, but I would have wanted the stylist to stick by me a little more to talk about what I had in mind since I took the time to book an appointment and it was my first time dress shopping. Overall, the stylists were nice and if you like the current trend of lace or beading with a fit n' flare skirt you might have luck here, but if you want literally anything else then your selection is limited. I ended up finding a dress elsewhere in town luckily, because it would have been really disheartening as my first time dress shopping to have that be the sole experience. Your Day By Nicole is everything I ever imagined a wedding dress experience would be. I went to a couple other bridal stores in North Dakota and San Diego before ending up at YDBN and there was no comparison. Delaney helped me find the perfect gown and was so patient while I was torn between gowns. Delaney was made for this job! You can tell she is passionate about what she does as she was so knowledgeable about fabrics, designs, sizes, styles, etc. She is so personable and was the ultimate reason that I had such a wonderful experience. She listened to what I wanted and never hesitated to let me try on another gown if I didn’t like one or wanted to see something else. I tried on so many gowns over multiple days and finally found my dream gown and veil. My dress is beyond gorgeous and I cannot wait to wear it on my big day. I love that all the girls at YDBN are all so sweet. Delaney even worked to get my gown delivered to the shop early because I live out of town and needed to pick up a little sooner. The Bismarck location is spacious. I was able to have my parents and sisters as well as my in laws sit comfortably while I tried on dresses. I also felt comfortable as the bridal fitting areas are private and nicely separated so you are not being stared at by strangers while modeling your gown.
