We had a group of 7 visit the spa on Saturday and the experience was fabulous. Services between the group were staggered over a few hours, and everyone was amazed at how they were able to get us all in while also enjoying the tranquility of the spa, the pool area and sauna. When we arrived we were offered cool lavender-water infused cloth, water and herbal tea. The spa area is dimly lit with comfy couches, relaxing music and fire place. All our services were top notch and we also saw several couples there too for their popular couples massages. The shower area has lockers and plenty of room to change into your comfy robe. In the front there is an area for mani/pedi's and I would have taken advantage of this if I had not recently had my nails done. They even arranged lunch for us in the pool area with delicious sandwiches and salads from the onsite resort restaurant and mimosas! The personal touches of rose petals on the mantle and honey sticks for your herbal hot tea was very nice. Lucy, the spa director was always there checking to see if we needed anything. You can tell this spa not only cares about creating a relaxing environment, but an experience that will keep you wanting to come back...
Read moreWe were disappointed with our experience. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. However, the interior of our suite was drab and did not create an inviting feel. They have started a renovation of the first floor and the hotel definitely needs a makeover. It looks worn.
Our rooms were not clean. The white slippers I wore in the room were dirty on the bottom after the first day. Moreover, we should have been told in advance that there was no daily maid service. In fact, we bought a few cleaning supplies to do the daily maintenance ourselves. Given the cost of the resort the lack of daily maid service is not acceptable - regardless of the reasons.
The food was mediocre compared to the great restaurant options in Blowing Rock. After one dinner we did not return.
On a positive note, the spa personnel were personable and talented. They took great care to ensure social distancing in spa lounge and locker room. Everyone made us feel special. Our spa experience was the highlight...
Read moreThe spa experience was less than expected for any resort I’ve been to, especially after seeing the ratings for this spa. I booked a deep tissue massage and paid the extra fee for it. My masseuse barely used any pressure even when I confirmed this was deep tissue during the treatment and asked for more pressure. It was so light I didn’t even feel relaxed. Not to mentioned she talked throughout the massage. I also booked a facial which was much better, however by this point the spa was so incredibly loud and the rooms are not sound proofed enough, some separated from another room by a room divider rather than a wall. Spa etiquette was not to be found here. Lastly the sauna and hot tub amenities are shared with the hotel guests and extremely loud. There was no relaxing in the sauna when children from the pool and loud adults are running in and out of it talking and leaving doors open. I’d really expected more and was sorely disappointed. This was not the day of R&R we...
