McCoy Minerals — Local services in Blowing Rock

While visiting Blowing Rock, NC and searching for a piece of obsidian, we were directed to this shop just down the street from where we were staying. Mr. R. McCoy or Doc as he is known in the area, welcomed us into his shop like an old friend, asked if we needed help with anything specific, so my husband asked his question about obsidian and I began to look around.

"What a find" I exclaimed, as my husband sighed, here she goes. Amazing jewelry designs, wonderful array of different stones, gems and of course fossils, large and small stones. Everything a jewelry lover and collector can desire. We purchased several pieces of jewelry, rings, earrings, fossil bookends, and one of the best finds a large piece of Buffalo Turquoise, untouched, unpolished, perfect for jewelry making. Sadly, we did not find a piece of obsidian big enough for our project, but the items we found, purchased and the friendly connection we made with Doc, left us so very happy

Honestly, Doc has offers the fairest prices I have experienced with high end, top quality jewelry ever. Wish I had more time to shop, could have found more valuable items to add to my collection. We will return! Highly recommend taking the time to stop by and visit with Doc. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience Mr. R. McCoy.

Honest the best gem and fossil store I've ever been in.

This shop has such a wide variety of gems, minerals, and fossils and all and extremely fairly priced. The fossils range from big to small, the crystals of all colors, shapes, and sizes. You could spend hours in this shop checking out everything they have.

The owner was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the minerals in her store. She was so kind and friendly as we walked through the store.
