We had room 121 for one night. When we checked in, the room next to us, 120 - the only other room rented - was loud but it was early so we ignored them. A few hours later, the couple started arguing, slamming doors, and it sounded like things were being thrown. It had escalated to where we didn’t feel safe staying. We called the after hours desk at the Meadowbrook Inn and spoke to Jesse. He stated there was only 1 room he could move us to which was on the other side of the couple. Not helpful. We asked if there was a room at one of the sister properties he could move us to and he said we would have to pay for the second room. We asked if there was security that could help and there was none. We asked him to call the police and he refused. Ended up calling the police ourselves at midnight and they waited as we got to our car. While we understand the couple fighting was not the fault of the hotel, it really should have been handled differently. There was absolutely no concern for our safety. We won’t ever stay at the Blowing Rock Inn again or its sister properties Azalea Inn and Meadowbrook Inn because of the lack of security and concern for the safety of their guests.
**This is addendum to our original review. We received a call and an email from, Vonda, the General Manager, who apologized for how we were treated. Said we should have been moved to another room with no questions asked. She understood the concerns about our neighbors and assured us this was not the way the situation should have been handled. I appreciated her reaching out and the offer to refund our money. If the opportunity arises, we would give the Blowing Rock Inn another chance. Vonda really was very kind in how she handled...
Read moreI was looking for a place to stay for a special occasion. I found their rooms on a third party booking agency. (WHICH I WILL NEVER DO AGAIN!!) I must have accidentally booked the room for 1 night. I immediately cancelled, realizing what I had done. My card was charged for the room. I called the motel and the front desk (male) told me I would have to go through the third party booking and a manager would authorize a refund. I went through the third party and pleaded with them my case. They called the motel and they refused to refund the money. I called the motel myself, and spoke with the manager and pleaded my case to her. She kept repeating, " It is policy" I missed the policy "72 hours" by about an hour. Honestly, who would want to stay in a place that the customer service is so bad. After reading the other reviews, I am now glad that I did not end up staying there and would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE! I understand policies, but, I am a single parent, $200 is a lot of money to me and I was in tears with this manager over the phone. Completely explained to her that I made a mistake and I have never used a third party booking before, this was my first time and I completely mistakenly booked and cancelled right after. This conversation went nowhere. She did not care. All they want is YOUR money and I can assure you, they have booked that room for Friday night and could have easily refunded my money... "but, it's...
Read moreI cannot recommend this hotel. When we arrived, the desk clerk advised us that our room was not ready, nor could she give us the room number until it was ready. The significance of this last point is that there are no extra parking spaces, only one assigned to each room so we had no place to park while waiting. Additionally, after a long drive we both could have used a restroom--no restroom in the lobby. So we decided to go into town for a bit. I ask the desk clerk if she had an estimate of time required; she advised 45" and volunteered that she would call us when room was ready. About an 1 1/2 hours later my wife called her and the room was indeed ready. We checked in without further incident.
The design of the hotel is 1950's, Route 66, meaning the rooms are smallish and short of electrical outlets. Otherwise it was tolerable and clean. The bed was quite comfortable. The killer was the wifi. It continually dropped us and offered only a weak signal when we were connected. Furthermore, when I tried to plug in my charger for my cellphone, the plug would just fall from the socket. I tried my computer charger; same result. Due to the limited number of outlets, this further irritated me.
We checked out after one night and found another...
