We booked our midsize rental car for vacation over a month in advance online through a travel agency. At the time we got a great deal. On the day we were picking up the car, we realized we would arrive early so we tried to change the start time one hour earlier. This changed the price to over double what we had originally agreed upon and we could not change it back. Then when we arrived at the agency the line was very long, so long that we ended up waiting over an hour up through the time we had originally signed up for. When we got to the front of the line the agent informed us that the car we had been assigned had already been rented out, so we got a GMC Terrain instead. The Terrain was in good condition (which is the only nice thing I can say about our experience) but the size of it was very inconvenient for our trip because I had to parallel park and maneuver around narrow streets in several cities and towns we visited. We would have much preferred the smaller car we had signed up for. Then after we returned the car we were charged an additional $90 gas fill-up fee even though we returned it with a full tank (way more than the cost of a fill-up). Budget Car Rental did reach out to me a few days later and apologized for the inconvenience and they credited me the extra charge to my card. So at the end, I was charged the same amount which they promised initially. While what I experienced was frustrating, I do appreciate their effort of listening to customer and making things right. For that I am revising my rating to 4 stars.

My car was due 10:00 am and I arrived the garage about 10:30 am (I was told there was one hour of grace period), but the gate to the parking was closed and I had no way of entering. I ended up circling in downtown Boston (terrible street signs) and getting lost repeatedly . Eventually the office sent someone to take the car to a different entrance. I was told not to worry about the time and I was not going to be charge more that what I was promised. Here we are, $158.12....

I called the manager to complain he said he will speak to them about it .and doesn't need to discuss it with me any further.
