Laura Preshong Ethical Fine Jewelry (Appointment Only) — Local services in Boston

I noticed this little new store in my neighborhood lately since I live in South End for the last 11 years and I thought to give it a try.

A pleasant environment when entered and one of the employees started to help me. The moment I asked a question, a woman's voice was heard from the back. She interrupted my conversation with the employee and then appeared (behind a curtain) to tell me that they don't have what I needed. When I inquired for other items she just loudly interrupted me and openly demonstrated that she didn't want to serve me. All her answers were short, abrupt and in most cases unnecessary. ( No! Don't look at those are fake stones. We don't have real ones... etc.) when I asked for prices she was pointing out jewelry and very quick hitting me with numbers ($80, $120...). I asked her if she was in a hurry? She said "no, I am the owner".. even though that was not my question and I asked her if maybe I should come another time when she would have more free time for her customers. Meanwhile the other worker was dismissed .. she left and I walked out.

Maybe was my accent? I give her a D for customer service as for the jewelry.. I wouldn't have any chance. I hope it was just a bad day for her...

I recently purchased an engagement ring from Laura Preshong, and start to finish had a truly incredible experience working with the entire team. The quality of the work, the service/communication from the team, their attention to detail, and the overall process was second to none. If this is indicative of the quality experience I had - I plan to go back and shop for wedding bands from Laura Preshong too because of how good my experience was with their team with the engagement ring.

I ended up creating a custom ring with their team, and it turned out better than I could have even imagined. Their whole team was patient, professional, and incredibly informative, especially with the many questions I had. I learned so much from their team and could not be more satisfied with the ring they helped me create. I never felt pressured, and everything about the entire process was extremely transparent and their communication with me through the entire time working with the gallery was exceptional.

The ring was in my hands well within the time they quoted, and most importantly - My now fiancee absolutely loved the ring. It was stunningly beautiful and even better than expected when I saw it in person.

For something that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, they make it an incredibly fun experience. As a boutique jeweler, they truly do specialize in attention to detail and service that other jewelers cannot provide. I could not...

My husband and I shopped for an ethical engagement ring at Laura Preshong in October, 2017. Shopping for such a pricey and special item can be very overwhelming, but we felt very comfortable at Laura Preshong. We never felt pressured to buy before we were ready, and the sales associates and Laura herself answered any and all questions we had. My husband thinks that most engagement rings look like ring pops.. They are too high up. Prior to us starting the search for the right ring, I assumed my options were going to be high settings. But when we arrived at Laura Preshong, we quickly realized that we were in the right place. The settings are lower but exquisite. And there are many beautifully handcrafted designs to chose from. We found our favorite and then went back this spring to look at wedding bands. Ultimately, my husband went for a chain store wedding band since he wanted something very simple that was cheaper elsewhere. But my wedding band if from Laura Preshong and it's beautiful and fits perfectly with my engagement ring. I've been married for a month and a half now, but I still look at my rings and think they are SO beautiful.

Laura Preshong is an upbeat, fun person. You get to know her and her staff personally while you work with them. I highly recommend.
