This was my first time coming and probably my last. This review is strictly based off of their customer service the food and drinks were good but the service was horrible. I booked on open table where it never says if you book a reservation you are required to order a full dinner, so when we sit down and order drinks our waiter immediately asks what we want to do for food, we have barely looked at the menu so we asked for more time and drinks were just fine for now and that we would order appetizers later. Then a manager (i assume) with a fedora comes over and basically berates us for only ordering drinks and not meals, he said the tables are for full dinner service and everyone has to get an entree. Meanwhile I didn’t see one table who sat after us order entrees, only drinks. This is at 9:30pm mind you. The manager spoke to us like we were dumb, as if we conned a table when we had no clue that was a rule. I then order an entree to appease him and the waiter but the waiter seemed annoyed that we weren’t ordering more food. The waiter constantly hovered over us pushing for us to order more or to clear the plates 5 minutes after we got them. Then halfway through the waiter and that manager who was so rude disappeared and another manager took over, he was extremely nice and never pushed us to do anything. After spending $250 we still tipped 25% of the bill, but when we tried to leave an employee stopped us and asked who left a 12 cent tip……which none of us did. He was defensive asking about the 12 cent tip which made us defensive since this conversation was in the middle of the floor with people looking on. We were being treated as if we didn’t pay the bill. He then went on to say he wanted to know about our experience and why we looked upset which we then explained that the vibe was immediately ruined from that first manager. He seemed apologetic but the way he went about talking to us was completely out of left field and embarrassing. The bouncer was acting like he was back as if we were going to do something bad! We didn’t even have to tip but we did anyway!! It was such an uncomfortable night when we were really looking forward to having a good night. The waiter and that one manager really ruined the night for us which is unfortunate since family traveled to meet up at this place. I would not recommend coming here to sit on the weekend unless you want to be shamed into ordering $20+ entrees on top of $20 drinks while getting smacked in the head by the people stuffed by the bar standing. If the manager would have spoke to us politely and understood that we had no idea about their policy we would have had a completely different experience. I hope they work on the management of this place and maybe think about putting their reservation policy...
Read moreThe Beehive has always been a favorite of mine. I have fond memories of having fabulous meals with live entertainment in the best atmosphere. When my family asked me where I would like to spend my birthday after a very long illness my first thought was The Beehive. What a mistake and disappointment.
First off I want to start by saying our waitress was fantastic and has nothing to do with the review. I could not have asked for anyone more sweet or attentive.
When we arrived the hostesses were sweet and friendly. One asked who was celebrating a birthday so clearly they saw the message on the reservation. The message asked for a great table near the music since we were celebrating both a birthday and a recovery from a long illness.
We were brought down to a great table near the stage. I purposefully made a 7:00 pm reservation thinking it would be close to showtime. To my disappointment the hostess explained the music was not starting until 10:00 pm. She said we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted to enjoy the music as well.
Within 5 minutes of sitting the same hostess asked if we could move to another table since they needed to accommodate a larger party. They moved us to a terrible table near the kitchen and drafty staircase. Within another ten minutes they moved the larger party to another table freeing up the nice table again. My son had to ask if we could move back.
Even thought the reservation clearly said we were there for a birthday no bother was taken to even write happy birthday on the dessert plate. We were also told at the end of the meal we had to leave within 15 minutes for the next reservation. Not what the hostess indicated at the start of our meal.
If I wasn’t aware of the Beehive of the past perhaps I would not have been so disappointed in tonight’s meal. All I can say is ……this is the last time I go for a special occasion and I no longer plan on recommending this restaurant to everyone I know as I have...
Read moreWe were in Boston from UK to celebrate our anniversary and were looking for a place with live jazz music. Beehive seemed like the place to be. So we booked a table for dinner at 1930.
Positives The girls at the reception were warm and welcoming both on arrival and when we left. The ambience is great. We weren’t seated in front of the stage but even otherwise every seating feels cozy and comfortable, be it for a couple/ group of friends or family. The musicians were great. Food was great on terms of quantity but lacked it when it came to flavour and could’ve been better. Although I understand the demand may not be so much but the menu has just one vegetarian option on the mains section. But they do have an entire vegetables small plates which compensate for it.
Biggest NEGATIVE: This was an unusual experience and one of the first of its kind. The gentleman who was waiting on our table seemed rushed. Although we did have time to look at the menu and decide what we wanted, everything thereafter seemed like we were on a timer. We felt pushed to finish quickly and were repeatedly asked if things were okay within short intervals which was annoying. The plates were cleared in an awful hurry and the cheque was presented to us even before we had finished our desserts. I also noticed the same pattern by the same waiter in the adjacent 2 tables. The people seemed miffed as they too were hurried away. One would understand if we were encroaching on new customer’s timing but they were plenty of empty tables around and no new people/ groups arrived.
The main enthusiasm to stay longer to listen to the musicians waned away and we no longer wished to go to the bar.
I had high hopes for this place based on ambience and good but the service left a lot...
