One of the landmark restaurants in South End with good food and amazing vibe. Recently took a visit to experience this Bohemian restaurant. Transformed from an old theater space, the two deck dining area was an enormous asset. We were seated on the second floor with a good view of the stage downstairs and of the sound films projected onto the brick wall. Even between conversations, we were constantly entertained. Our server also went above and beyond to ensure that we were well taken care of. Their menu threw a net around the American classics, Mediterranean dishes, and some crowd-pleasers. We started with their popular truffled fried cauliflower, grilled garlic shrimp, and the tuna crudo. Among these, our favorite was the grilled garlic shrimp served on top of black rice and salsa verde. Cauliflower was slightly undercooked, but the classic combination of truffle and parmesan made it better. For the entrées, we had the grilled brisket and the braised lamb shoulder. Romesco sauce spiked with shishito peppers added nice flavors to the brisket, but the meat itself was unfortunately overcooked to toughness. On the other hand, the braised lamb shoulder was excellent. Although the meat was pulled apart to small pieces, roasted onions and tahini helped bring out bursts of umami in each bite. Overall, the food was good for a live music venue, and I would recommend trying this place even without live concerts.

Great food and great service, presented in a super cool space. The Beehive restaurant has what I would describe as a speakeasy vibe, with tables situated on multiple balconies overlooking the stage on the lower level. The menu is simple, yet modern and inventive, and has plenty of small bites to compliment the selection of wines and craft cocktails. I ordered the Crispy Arancini with Burrata and Truffle and it was excellent. They were fried to perfection and the flavors were delectably balanced. For dessert, I tried the Chocolate Mousse, which my server recommended. And although I hadn't orginally planned on getting dessert, I was pleased with it. The texture was rich and smooth and I believe the whipped topping had some sort of marscapone in it, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, I'd recommend that too but it was a little too decadent to finish on my own. Maybe next time, I'll invite someone to split it with. Aside from the dishes themselves, the dining experience was excellent, too. The hosts and servers were very welcoming and charismatic and the service was quick and attentive. Overall, I give the Beehive 5 stars in all categories. It's a cool spot to hang out, grab a drink or a bite to eat, and see a live performance. Would definitely come back in the future.
