The Tox Boston — Local services in Boston

I’m very, very surprised to see positive reviews for this place. I’ve had massages done at every high end spa in the city (Four Seasons, G20, Manderin etc) and in NYC, and in Miami etc and this was subpar, overpriced and simply not worth it. While the staff was kind, and it had a cool vibe it was a marketed scheme by a fitness influencer who made up a “service”. $250 for an hour of super low key lymphatic drainage that did nothing. That’s $100 MORE than top spas in the city. It was a 2/10 on the depth level.

This isn’t a spa. You walk in and get the service and leave. They leave you covered in lotion, so much so it drenched my jeans and shirt. No warm towel to wipe yourself down afterwards? Loud house music playing? Curtains so you can hear the person next to you conversation? The renovations were also cheaply done. The bathroom walls went 90% and stopped. Why?

The technique wasn’t anything unique or specialized and if anything, very underrated if you’ve actually had a legit masseuse give lymph drainage it’s nothing like that. It was like a Swedish massage and that’s being kind. I felt duped after paying $250 + tip for an hour with no amenities. I won’t be back, nor do I see this place lasting very long. My client repeatedly verbalized having increasingly significant abdominal pain during the session which was dismissed as a "normal part of detoxification." Only when the pain became severe and intolerable did the "technician" stop. This resulted in the need to seek emergency medical attention and she had to be transported BY AMBULANCE to Mass Gen.

The entire experience was emotionally and physically traumatizing. Multiple assurances that corporate would address her concerns to "make things right" were not met. They have not reached out despite my client making multiple attempts to contact both the location and corporate, and the contact number for someone named Kristen at corporate is no longer in service.

The Tox Boston staff is wildly incompetent. This is a dangerous place with unqualified people performing services that should only be performed by licensed massage therapists and physical therapists, which they are not. Avoid at all costs or risk landing yourself in the ER after being...

horrible terrible AWFUL people, awful service, zero professionalism - gave me a disgusting concerning rash that I went to urgent care for. left them a review so people can be cautious going here. they messaged me begging to take the review down, offered to refund me and offered me a complimentary facial all for the review to be removed and for the “inconvenience” bc they obviously felt really bad …….. they told me to come into the office numerous times to bring them my card for the refund. went out of my way TWICE. and was rejected TWICE. they came up with a system excuse the first time and the second time they told me “why didn’t you get the rash the first time” bc i’ve been here before. their corporate office will be hearing from me and i will be sending screenshots of all our correspondence will be getting emailed to their corporate office as well. so many other places in the city - this place is so juvenile, unprofessional and quite embarrassing to say the least....
